Mani Monday (5): Matte-ify This!!

It's Monday again, so it's time for another Mani Monday! Today, my manicure is all about the glitter and the pop power!

The polishes I used for today's mani are Julep's "Marjorie" and "Isla", and New York Color's Matte top coat!

For anyone interested in becoming a Julep maven, I'm just going to start posting a disclaimer and referral link in any of the posts where I mention Julep. :P So, you can use my referral link: Become a Julep Maven! And you can get your first Maven box free! Just make sure to put FREEBOX (all one word) in the promo code box. Note: the link I've used is a referral link of my own, so I do get rewarded "Jules" per referral, but if you're really interested in signing up as a maven, I'd really appreciate you using my link. Even if you don't though, make sure you remember the code or your first box won't be free. :)

Here are the polishes!

I ended up using "Marjorie" as my base coat, and then doing a strip of "Isla", a metallic shade that's kind of in between white and silver down the centre of each nail. It wasn't as neat as it could've been, but I still was pretty happy with how it turned out. After I let the coats of colour dry a bit, I put on my NYC Matte top coat...which I actually kind of loved!

Here's how it turned out:

I have used matte coloured polishes before, and I'm not usually a fan. I find them very clumpy and difficult to apply, so this top coat is perfect! It goes on like a regular top coat, and makes the colour appear as a matte finish....so awesome!! :D

What do you think?
Are you a fan of Matte polish, and have you ever tried a Matte top coat?

  1. I definitely prefer a matte top coat, so much easier to just have one polish :) I have an essie one from ages ago and I'm not sure if it even still works well, but I keep meaning to pull it out again for a design I have in mind. this is cute! i love the orange and isla together.

    1. I definitely do, too! This was my first time trying one, and it was sooooo much better than the actual matte polishes! And you're right, it is so much easier! haha well, if it doesn't, the NYC one was super cheap and it worked really well! :) Do it! I'm excited to see! :D Thanks!! :)

  3. Looks great!! I've been wanting to try a matte top coat, but I was unsure because I hadn't heard good things. But I think I should try NYC matte top coat then.

    1. Thanks, Eilidh! :D I definitely recommend it! I wouldn't recommend straight matte polishes though...those can be a nightmare! I still buy the odd one if I love it though, but the top coat definitely works way better, and this one actually worked really well! :)
