Holy Goalie! Did I ever love this book! :D haha and if you can't tell I also love Tera's different slangs. I loved how Grace said, "Holy Goalie!" and how Gretchen would say, "Hades" instead of Hell. :P It's such a small thing, but so adorable! :D

I've been wanting to read a Tera Lynn Childs book for so long now, and I'm so glad that I got the chance to read this one because I absolutely loved it! I love mythology, and I love when authors go all out and take a small element of myth and turn in into a fabulous story of their own, and Tera definitely did that. Medusa isn't a huge part of mythology, and I always felt like she got a bad rap. Before Perseus kills her she's actually raped by Poseidon...but does anyone feel bad for her...no! Instead Athena gets pissed off and curses her with her reptilian hair because said rape happens in one of her temples...isn't that horrible?! Anyways...now that you all know that poor Medusa was a victim...and not really the bad guy that everyone insisted she was, you're in a great mindset for this book...and at the moment, this review. ;P

In Sweet Venom, Gretchen, Grace, and Greer discover that they're all descendants of Medusa, destined to protect our world from the monsters who come through from their dimension. I loved this idea! The idea that Medusa wasn't evil, as I mentioned with her myth before, really appealed to me, and I loved that Tera took her story in a different way and made her someone who was misunderstood rather than the big villain. I loved Grace and Gretchen...Greer was alright, but she was kind of stuck-up...I choose to blame her parents for that though. :P haha I also loved Milo and Nick...cute boys just always make a book better, and I happened to love these two. ;) Grace's brother, Thane was awesome, too! He didn't say much...reminded me of my brother in that way. :P lol

My favourite part of this book was Grace discovering what she was. Her training with Gretchen was awesome, and I loved learning about their different abilities while she did. I also loved getting to see Gretchen be all hardcore, and the way that the relationship between Grace and Gretchen evolved...and once Greer came into the story, their relationship with her too. :D

I thought that Sweet Venom was a fabulous story! It kept me on my toes, and I loved that Tera managed to mix ancient mythology into a current setting, while putting a very welcome twist on the ancient mythology involving Medusa! I think that Sweet Venom is pretty much perfect for anyone! If you don't know mythology I think you'll like it, and if you do, I think you'll love it even more because it offers a welcome new perspective! :D

Seriously...I can't say it enough, go read Sweet Venom, it's fantastic! :D

This was my first time reading something written in poetic verse...and also something written by Ellen Hopkins, and I absolutely loved it. I was extremely hesitant to try poetic verse out at first, but I decided that I'd give it a shot, and I am so glad that I did! Triangles was a beautiful story, and it was beautifully written! I was seriously blown away while I read this one, it was one of those stories that sticks with you long after you've finished reading. :D

Before trying poetic verse, I was always worried that it would be hard to get to know the characters,  but in Triangles, the characters were so real, and while I didn't always approve of their actions...*cough* Holly *cough* I still felt like I genuinely got to know them throughout the book. I loved that Triangles alternated points of view between three characters, Holly, Andrea, and Marissa, and I especially loved that all three of their lives were connected in some way. Holly was best friends with Andrea, who was the sister of Marissa, so sometimes their stories would overlap, and I really liked when that happened, it just made it seem so much more involved.

Out of the three characters, Marissa's stories were my favourite, she was genuinely such an amazing person, who had been through so much, and I was thrilled that her ending of the story seemed pretty optimistic. Holly, was probably my least favourite, but I did find her parts entertaining...morally, I just kind of found her to be a terrible person. I could understand why she acted the way she did...even if her choices were kind of terrible. Andrea, was somewhere in the middle, she'd been through lots but she'd worked hard in her life to get where she was. All of these women had men problems, which I'm sure is pretty obvious by the description, but they all handled them in different ways.

My favourite of the poetic verses were the sections between the different narrators. If you read the words that stuck out off to the side, they'd form a complete sentence, or idea, and every time I'd read one of them, I just couldn't help but smile! :D I was completely enthralled with Triangles once I started it, and I honestly didn't put it down until I was done. For a 500-and-some page book, it seriously just flew by! :D

I seriously can't recommend Triangles enough! It was a captivating story told in a beautiful way. I will put a bit of a warning here though because Triangles does mention sex, and there are a few scenes that don't go into explicit detail, but they describe enough that it might not be appropriate for younger readers. Ellen Hopkins does have YA titles though, so if you're younger and want to try one of her books out, maybe go for those ones first, and wait on Triangles until you're a bit older. :)

If you're a bit hesitant to try poetic verse, like I was, I say go for it! Don't be afraid, and give it a chance. You might love it like I did, and after reading Triangles, I can definitely say that I've become an Ellen Hopkins fan for life! :D

My father might be able to tell me the age; but he;s not here, he let me go. As I unfold the page carefully it makes small sounds that seem loud, and I hope the other girls with think it is the rustling of blankets or an insect singing its wings."

So, Graveminder was the one book I actually finished this week, and luckily it was awesome and I loved it, so my week wasn't completely terrible reading wise. :P My review for this one will be Zoe's blog, since she was so nice and gave me her copy...but as to when I'll get that written I don't know yet. I'm going to try and crank out a bunch of reviews either today, or another time this week...I haven't been in much of a review writing mood lately, but hopefully I can force myself out of that. :P

 My book cover doesn't actually match this one, but I've been too lazy to change it. :P This one's for school, and it isn't a bad story, but it definitely isn't one that I'd normally choose for myself. It sure makes you think though...and also realize just how nasty governments can be...and the people, too. :(

• Crossed (Matched #2) by Ally Condie

I also couldn't resist starting this one when I got to my parents house on Friday. I'm not very far yet because I've been reading Obasan...and watching a few movies that my mom bought, but I'm excited about it already! :D

Guest Post by Aimee Laine and GIVEAWAY!

Humans Pretend, Mimics ... Do.

Grandma’s white wedding gown.

Dad’s tie, hat and suit jacket.

Mom’s pearls, beads and high heel shoes.

What do these little goodies have in common?

They are the perfect items to be stuffed in a trunk in the attic, a closet or a box in a basement — pulled out by a six year old little girl and her friend(s) as they begin their growing up journey. These items (among plenty of others) are the quintessential goodies that let we girls play dress-up.

Do we ever really stop, though? In our teens, we don our fabulous dresses for proms and dances. Later, it’s our own weddings. Beyond that, a time or two in a skinny little black dress or some other fashionable ensemble takes us from our usual corporate gear, or our sweats, to a woman whose outer facade takes over from her inner core.

She has played dress up, yet again — just in a little different way.

I still love pulling out my little red dress and wiggling it on, sliding my hands down the sides and going, “Yeah ... you look good,” only to put the dress back on the hanger, hoping for another chance to wear it.

The Mimics of Rune, especially the women, have an opportunity not only to dress the part, but to also be the part. They can do or be their own ultimate childhood fantasy — maybe my fantasy (since I created them).

I watched Princess Diana’s wedding so long ago, with that long train and her crown of jewels. Right then, I wanted to be a princess — to image how awesome it would be to be her.

Mimics became, in my mind, the ultimate way to be both who I am and someone else. I could envision all the little details of being a princess, royalty, a strong female CEO, or even someone who I’ve only ever ‘met’ via the People magazine or the tabloids.

I could pretend.

And there ... my imagination ran wild — especially since I gave Charley one little added bonus of a photographic memory. Would Charley want to be a lawyer? She can be it. Stripper? Yep. (Why or why would she want to do that?) Princess? Yup. Super model? Oh yeah! Hollywood actress? Certainly. There are reasons for every role she takes, just like a little girl choosing to be the bride, her dad or the latest fashionista.

Like my characters, like the Mimics, I, too, can return to my little girl roots and just ... pretend.

SILENCE is just around the corner...and Contest details!

Okay, so some of you probably have some idea of what this post means...the title is hinting at it after all, but I'm sure some people are extremely confused.

The third book in Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush Hush saga, SILENCE, is almost out!

It comes out on OCTOBER 5th! 

Yes...I know I wrote that really big, but you must know! :P haha

I'm so excited for this book, it isn't even funny! These books are gorgeous...come on, don't lie, if you own this series like I do, you have to admit that they look b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l on the shelf! They're shiny, and I will be honest, I am attracted to shiny things....and abs, I like those too. :P So, in honour of Silence's upcoming release I'm going to tell you about how I discovered this series, and I'll gush a bit about why I like it. 

I'm from a small town, and that means we don't have a bookstore, and the closest bookstore is in Edmonton, where my mom hates driving, so going to the bookstore was always a really rare opportunity for me...unless I got my dad to pick something up for me from there after work, I didn't get much in the way of new books. For years, this never really bothered me, but then my desire to read pretty much exploded. I'd recently finished the Twilight Saga (yes, I know...some of you are rolling your eyes right now and I don't care because I loved it, and I also spent a fair time gushing about it with some people at school...we seriously talked about it nonstop, and I won't lie...it was awesome haha), and I was anxious to read more...and more. First I picked up the House of Night series, which satisfied me for a while...now I don't read the series anymore, but I really enjoyed it then. Then I found the Mortal Instruments, which I'm still in love with, and the fact that I've reread it repeatedly kind of proves that...I rarely reread books now, but this one, I always make time for. :) I continued to search for more books after I finished TMI (back then it was a completed trilogy :P), and one day I stumbled upon Hush, Hush. It was shiny, it had a hot guy on the cover (yes, with abs ;D), and it sounded like an interesting story. I won't lie, the cover totally drew me in. Also, just keep in mind, as I said before, I didn't go to bookstores often, but my mom and I do love to shop at Wal-mart (don't judge....they have everything! Movies, clothes, music, food...and my favourite, books. I still go to Wal-mart and head the book section first ;D), and I'd passed on it once before, but this time I picked it up and I decided I was getting it. Thank goodness they had it at Wal-mart! ;D

I took it home, and of course, I devoured it. It was a great story, and who honestly doesn't love Patch. He's sexy, and mysterious...and he's smart. Who doesn't love hot, smart guys? If you don't....you're missing out. ;) I may have gushed about the covers of this series already, but they is so much more to this series than just nice covers; they tell an amazing story. I love Nora and Patch's story, and I love that Nora stands up for herself, but also has insecurities. 

When I'm reading these books, I honestly find it incredibly easy to relate to Nora. She's smart, but she's not exactly experienced with guys, and so everything with Patch is so overwhelming and everything is so dramatic...she's a teenager, it's supposed to be. I can relate to that so well, I remember going through that. Of course, I've only been out of high school for a few years now, and I started this series when I was still school, but I still find her easy to relate to...even now, after I've tried to distance myself from HS drama. :P I know many people complained about Crescendo and how Nora acted in it, but I understood her. She was confused, and she felt like she'd been betrayed, so she did some things that we probably wouldn't have thought she'd have done in this first book...but what I paid attention to were the circumstances. They've changed a lot between books, and I'm sure that in Silence a lot more in going to happen...and I can't wait to see that.

I'm not even sure what I want to see happen in Silence. I know that I want lots of Patch and Nora, and after the cliffhanger ending in the last book, I'm a bit worried...but I'm crossing my fingers that they can get themselves out of a bad situation. I loved the ending right before the cliffhanger though...so freaking adorable, and it's about time Patch shared some of his secrets with Nora...I'm trying to be very vague about the ending of Crescendo because I don't want to ruin it for any newbies to the series, just know that for me, I was satisfied with how it played out. :)

To say that I was excited for In the Forests of the Night is a severe understatement...I have been anxiously awaiting this book since the moment I finished...no, maybe the moment I started Tyger Tyger...yup, I love this series that much. As soon as I start one I'm anxious for more...and more. I've got a pretty big To-read pile, so I haven't taken much time to reread a story in a while, but I made an exception for this series. I didn't want to start In the Forests of the Night without remembering all of Tyger Tyger, so I reread it beforehand...which was an excellent idea, not only did it help me remember, but it also gave me a double dose of Finn MacCumhail, that sexy beast, his words not mine...although I may have called him something similar to that in my head once or twice. ;)
 

Moving on from how much I love Finn...okay, I'm totally lying, there will be plenty more gushing about Finn in this review...anyways. In the Forests of the Night takes off immediately after Tyger Tyger, the last few pages of Tyger Tyger are actually the same as the Prologue of In the Forests of the Night, which is awesome if you choose not to the first book...plus those few pages are so freaking adorable, and awesome! I can't even reread them without smiling a gigantic grin and if I'm in the right mood, tearing up.

Teagan was fantastic in this one! I loved her in the first book, but she's really starting to grow into herself, and discover what she's capable of in In the Forests of the Night. She's starting to accept what she's found out about herself, even if she doesn't like it, and although she's still not happy with it, she knows that there's nothing she can do to about it all. And in some other big news Cindy the Chimp gets a boyfriend! :D Sorry if I spoiled that for anyone, but you will love that part, seriously it's so cute! :D If you can't tell, I'm also one of those people that see a puppy on TV and starts in on the babytalk...it's really hard to not do, seriously, they're just so cute, like Cindy and her boyfriend! :D

Since I've already told you about Cindy, I'm going to talk about the action in this one. There's lots of running. That is all. Okay, that's not all, but that's all I'm going to tell you so that you aren't completely spoiled by this review. :P There are also lots of goblins, and you get to see several different kinds. You also learn more folklore about the first Finn MacCumhail, and more of the Travellers' history. I absolutely loved learning about the history, and the former MacCumhail, and pretty much everything about this book. Honestly, In the Forests of the Night completely blew all of my expectations for Tyger Tyger's sequel out of the water. It was so much more than I expected, and I probably couldn't have loved it more than I already did. There was some epic use of foreshadowing in this one, and throughout the story I was kept on my toes, trying to figure out what would happen next.

In the Forests of the Night was an amazing sequel, and I think all fans of Tyger Tyger will be thrilled when they read it. Just as she did with Tyger Tyger, Kersten Hamilton has once again woven a wondrous story that draws you in right from the first page. The characters: Aidan, Teagan, Finn (♥♥♥) to name a few, welcome you back into their world as if you'd never left, and you'll be spellbound until the very last page. I, for one, am already anxiously...and I mean ANXIOUSLY, awaiting the next book!

I got this one from the library this week, and devoured it (hehe...sorry zombie joke). This was fantastic and I loved it! Definitely one of my favourite zombie books so far! :D

As you can see I have a lot of books on here that I haven't actually read yet, but I have read a pretty big chunk I think, so that's good. There are some on here that I want to read so badly...like The Forests of Hands and Teeth, and all of the John Green books, and I'm sure I'll get to them eventually, but I haven't yet. Then there are some I'm not really interested in at all to be honest. Like Maximum Ride...I know people love it, but it just doesn't peak my interest, and as I mentioned about about the House of Night, that one I've stopped reading altogether. I do own the first 7 books though. I just really couldn't stand the series anymore, which made me so sad because I loved Stark...and he was just getting to be a big part of the story, but I just couldn't continue it...honestly, it was like torture for me. Oh, and if you're curious as to why I've only read one book from the Sisterhood of the Traveling pants, it's because we got the first book with the DVD of the movie, and I read it right away, and I just never picked up the ones after. I might someday though because I did like the first one. :)

Okay, so now that I'm done my list...and my rambling, is anybody else up for filling it out??

And if you don't feel like filling it out, are there any on here that you're just dying to read? Any other books that you think should've been on here?  I know I think that there should have been way more...and that some of these probably shouldn't have made it on here if the others didn't, but oh well. And I'm curious, does anyone know where this started from?

Well that was my mailbox for the week! It was definitely a lot...although a book I was actually hoping to come didn't this week. One that I ordered for school, so that sucks, but I'm crossing my fingers that it shows up on Monday, or even Tuesday because I need it for class. :-S If I have to I guess I'll just buy another copy though. Anyways. This will probably the last huge IMM in a while since I'm trying not to buy as many because I'm back at school, but I know I have a few things coming in, so it won't be totally empty. :)  By the way...those links took forever! :P lol

I reviewed the first book in this series, Six Moon Summer, a while ago, and I loved it! I was thrilled to hear that there was going to be another book, and since then I've also learned that there are going to be even more books...two, I believe! :D

By my enthusiasm for the next two books you can probably already tell that I liked All Hallows' Moon...actually, I loved it! I thought that it was a fantastic sequel! S.M. Reine did a fabulous job with it! I loved that she didn't reiterate what happened in the first book constantly...honestly, too many series do this. I hate when I read a series and every new book spends at least a third of it telling me what happened in the other books...it makes me feel like the author thinks I'm stupid. Obviously, she did mention some stuff that happened, so that if someone were to pick up All Hallows' Moon without reading Six Moon Summer, they wouldn't be totally lost, but she didn't make it so packed full of reiteration that they would be spoiled for the first book...well maybe a little because they wouldn't have any suspense at the end of the first one if they already knew what would happen...but, I'm getting off topic. What I'm trying to say is that All Hallows' Moon works as a standalone. It's fantastic as a sequel, but I think if you wanted to go straight to this one, you could too....but, I do think you'd enjoy it more if you read Six Moon Summer first. :P

I loved seeing the next stage in Rylie's journey, and experiencing her struggles to come to terms with all of the things that have changed in her life. She's going through a lot...and I'm not just talking about the whole werewolf thing, she went through so many things in Six Moon Summer, and in All Hallows' Eve, and I can't help but admire her strength. She doesn't give up...even when it seems like all is lost and she just keeps getting beaten down. She's one tough girl! :D

Since the description mentions Seth, I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying that he's in this one, and I'm sure if you already read Six Moon Summer, you did expect him to return. I know I did! And if you haven't read Six Moon Summer, then you don't know who I'm talking about, but let me just say this...I love Seth...I seriously do. He's freaking fantastic! He's tough and mysterious, and in All Hallows' Moon, we finally get to see more about his past...and his family. We see him interact with his mom and his brother, and of course, once again, we see him with Rylie. He isn't as much of a mystery by the end of this one, but he's still awesome. As much as I love seeing Rylie grow in All Hallows' Moon, I love seeing Seth grow too. They both go through so much, together and apart, and I love that the point of views alternate and allow you to see that.

I expected to like All Hallows' Moon, and I did, as I've said, I loved it! This series, and author, is one of the reasons that I enjoy reading self-published books. Trust me, there are some AMAZING self-published books! I'm sorry if you feel like I'm pushing them right now, but I feel like often their work isn't given a chance, so right now I'm trying to open your eyes a bit to a fine example of what can come from self-publishing. I hope that many of you take my advice, and give this series a chance, it is amazing. Please don't let prejudices or negative connotations towards self-published works influence you here. If you like paranormal stories, or want to give them a shot, go for it! This one is fantastic, it's unique, it has fabulous characters, and I can't forget to mention that right now the first book, Six Moon Summer, is only $0.99 on Amazon...so if you want it, go for it now. After all, who doesn't love a deal. ;) haha

Reine is having a blog tour, and as part of that tour, I have Seth, the mysterious and sexy boy I mentioned back when I reviewed Six Moon Summer, here on my blog today! He's been gracious enough to answer a few questions, and I hope you enjoy them. :)

You've mentioned before that family is really important to you. Do you want to tell us a little bit about them?
I have a brother named Abel and my mom. Abel and I are really tight, you know? You have to be with your brother. I would do anything for him. He was attacked last year and he's never really gotten over it. His face is still horrible, but he's always been kind of ugly, so I don't think it's that big a difference. But don't tell him I said that! My mom, though, she's been really intense since dad got killed awhile back. She's kind of... career driven.


"Career driven?"So what's her career?
The family business. What we've always done. She kills werewolves.


How do you kill a werewolf?
It's just like killing anyone else, I guess, even though I've never killed a normal person or anything. The only problem is that they heal stupidly fast and they're big, quick, and mean. You almost have to pull the trigger before you even see them, or that's it. You're dead. You can slow them down if you can poison them with wolfsbane, and you can stop them cold if you get a little silver in their blood, but otherwise it's just like hunting any big animal. Except they're human twenty-nine nights of the month.


How many have you killed before?
Just on my own? Only two. But since I started going on hunts as a kid with my brother, we've killed over a dozen. I think we've got the best hunt-to-kill ratio in the country, but it's not like us hunters have a scoreboard.


Does it bother you hunting a werewolf when they're usually human?
Mom says they don't have souls after they get bitten. She says the spirit of the wolf eats the spirit of the man and leaves nothing but emptiness inside. Even if they look like people, even if they walk and talk like people, they're not people. That's why we have to wait until they change on a moon to shoot them, though. We have to be totally sure they're the one. Dad used to say, "If it's not furry, don't kill. If it is furry, skin it." He was pretty career-driven too.

I guess I used to be okay with the whole hunting thing. I believed my parents. They're the experts, right? But ever since this summer, it's been different. I went on my first real solo hunt, and... things changed.


Are you talking about the incident at Camp Golden Lake?
Yeah. Two werewolves, lots of victims. And then there was the third werewolf-- Rylie. She got bitten when I was on a hunt. I tried to save her, but I failed, and then I tried to keep her from turning at the end of the summer, and I failed again. I feel pretty bad about that.


What happened to Rylie?
I don't know. She changed on that last night to save me from the big bad wolf, and I didn't see her again after that. She looked pretty bad, though.


Do you think she's alive?
God, I hope so.

Books I Read Last Week:

• Triangles by Ellen Hopkins
  

I loved Triangles! I definitely had a fabulous experience with my first time reading a book written in poetic verse! I'll be reviewing this one sometime soon. :)

• The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies #2) by Pittacus Lore

I loved this one! I can't wait until the next book, and hopefully we'll get some info on it soon! :D I'm a super fan of Six, so I loved that we got to see more of her in this one, and we also got to meet a couple more of the Garde! When I heard of this one's title, I thought it'd be in Six's POV, but it isn't actually, it's in John/Four's and another of the Garde's (I'll let you read it to find out about her number :P lol).

• Wisdom's Kiss by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

This was a so-so read for me, and I'll also be reviewing it sometime soon. I loved the one character, Trudy, but I wasn't a fan of Dizzy. :P I thought that it was very creative though with it's alternating types of storytelling...from diary entries, to scenes from a play, which was pretty interesting. I definitely want to read Princess Ben now though, so I can see Nonna Ben's background story. :)

• The Boyfriend Game by Stephie Davis

This one was adorable! :D I love reading short, quick and funny contemporary reads. This one had Trisha, who was obsessed with soccer, and she started practicing with a guy named Graham. I loved their banter, and how awkward Trisha was once she got a crush on him. :P

• Love at First Click by Elizabeth Chandler

This was another adorable quick and funny read. :D I loved Hayley and Flynn!

• Boys, Bears, and a Serious Pair of Hiking Boots by Abby McDonald

I got this one from Zoe last weekend, and I'll be reviewing it on her blog some time soon (first I have to get in gear and actually write it! haha). It was an awesome story, definitely a sweet contemporary read, with an environmental twist. :P lol

• I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: Six's Legacy (Lorien Legacies #0.5)

Loved this novella! So awesome! :D This one was actually in Six's POV, and I loved that! It wasn't the happiest of stories, but I loved getting to see how Six got to be where...and who she was. :)

Reading Now:

• Wish You Were Here by Catherine Clark

I just started this one, so not too much to say, but I think it'll be a nice quick read, which will be a nice balance to all of my reading for school. :P

Books I Want to Read This Week:

• Witchlanders by Lena Coakley

I've been wanting to read this one for a while. :) It sounds awesome! :D

• Graveminder by Melissa Marr

This is another one that I've been super stoked to read! I really liked the Wicked Lovely series, so it'll be interesting to read something else from Melissa Marr. :)
