I'm always incredibly excited whenever I see that the amazing author duo of Piper and Rayne have something new planned...so when I first heard about their upcoming series, The Baileys, centred around nine siblings from a small town in Alaska called Lake Starlight...I was immediately intrigued! This is Piper Rayne's biggest planned series yet and the entire series sounds so fabulous! Now that I've finished the first book, LESSONS FROM A ONE-NIGHT STAND, which was all about the oldest Bailey sibling, Austin, I'm even more excited because this book was amazing!!!
When it comes to characters, relationships, and dynamics between characters of any kind, Piper and Rayne are absolute experts! They have a way of crafting a world through their characters and all of their relationships, whether they're romantic, familiar, and filial (just about the friendship), and they always make them extremely well-rounded and never fail to compel me to want to read more. In LESSONS FROM A ONE-NIGHT STAND they're at their best! We saw nine different Bailey siblings and we got to see just how different each and every one of them was. I'm so excited to get a story for each of them...and I adore that Piper Rayne decided to focus each story around a well-known romance trope! Austin and Holly's story was clearly centred around the whole mystery one-night stand backfiring trope...and let me tell you it was executed to rom-com perfection!
Austin and Holly themselves were amazing! Austin was a total fox and he was such a wonderful, thoughtful, and generous person. He had me swooning more than once, and I definitely can't wait to see him pop up in the future books. And I loved Holly, too! I loved how strong she was, and I loved that despite her strength she also had a vulnerable side. Together they were even better and I loved their steamy chemistry and I adored how they complemented one another! I also loved seeing how they fit into the Lake Starlight community! There's a certain gossip blog that seems like it's going to be pretty central to this series that I think everyone is going to get a real kick out of...I know I did! I also loved the Bailey matriarch, Grandma Dori! ;D
Overall, I absolutely loved LESSONS FROM A ONE-NIGHT STAND! It's an extremely strong start to Piper Rayne's biggest plan series yet, and it has me tremendously excited for what's in store for this series yet! Next up is Brooklyn's story: ADVICE FROM A JILTED BRIDE...can't wait! I've always loved Piper and Rayne's character dynamics the best so the fact that we're going to get to see all of these characters for nine books has me thrilled! If you're a fan of rom-coms, especially if you love intricate companion series that are able to be read as standalones, then I think you'll love this, too...and I definitely think anyone who loves rom-coms in general will absolutely adore Austin and Holly! Highly, highly recommend this one...and I definitely suggest all rom-com fans check out Piper Rayne's backlist, too! ;)
