Spotlight Tour: BAD BACHELOR (Bad Bachelor #1) by Stefanie London

I don't know about you all, but I have a real soft spot for romances where the leading man is a grade "A" douchebag. I love seeing him find love and grow into the man he's meant to be. He may end up still being a jerk by the end of the book, but even if he is, he's always just the guy that the leading lady needs...and I have to admit that it pulls at all of my heartstrings. ;)

I'm always on the lookout for a great player or bad boy romance, so when I heard about Stefanie London's upcoming release BAD BACHELOR, I immediately added it to my TBR! It releases next Tuesday on March 6th, and I can't wait to read it!

I've got all of the book details for you...and excerpt...and a giveaway, so keep scrolling! ;)

  EXCERPT

They stopped beside a black car with tinted windows. Out of nowhere, a driver appeared and opened the door for them. Darcy suddenly felt underdressed, which was stupid since they were only going for a ride.

“So tell me: What’s so appealing about Five-Star Darren?” Reed asked as they slid into the back seat. A glass partition separated them from the driver.

“None of your business.” Oh God, they were not having this conversation. Not while a billion dirty thoughts were driving her to distraction. Damn him, why did he have to mention sex?

Her hormones hadn’t been this rowdy since high school. But the second he got close and his clean, warm scent invaded her nostrils, it was like the sexy bits of her body started doing tequila shots.

“Oh come on, you can trust me. I might even be able to give you some advice.” His brown eyes twinkled. They were framed by full, thick lashes—the kind of lashes that had no business being on a man.

God, they were far too close in the back seat of the car. Her bare leg was mere inches from his, and the scent of his aftershave invaded her nostrils. It was crisp, clean, with a hint of citrus.

     Damn delectable.

“You were late today,” she blurted out, hoping the abrupt change in conversation might steer him away from delving into her nonexistent dating life—and perhaps jolt her brain into not focusing on how good he smelled.

“Half an hour late and I was sitting there, waiting.”

“My meeting ran over and my phone died. I could have gone back to the office to email you, but that would have meant being later than I already was.” He reached for a bottle of water that sat in a compartment in the door. When he offered her one, she shook her head. “I apologize for keeping you waiting.”

     “Thank you. I appreciate it.”

“Now, back to your dating life—”

“No. We’re not having this conversation.” She held up a hand. “Besides, why do you care?”

“Because, after careful deliberation, I’ve decided that you are interesting.”

“Gee, thanks.” Darcy snorted. “I’ll pass on that so-called compliment.”

     “So-called?”

“You do know ‘interesting’ is usually a code word for ‘weird,’ right? It’s not much better than telling a girl she has a great personality.”

     “What’s that a code for?”

     “Ugly.”

He brought the water bottle to his mouth and sipped. Full lips hinted at sinful activities and Darcy tried to quash the flutter low in her belly. He probably knew exactly what to do with his lips too. Stop it.

“You are interesting…in the non–code word sense. Even if you do think I’m a jerk. And Five-Star
Darren would be a terrible match, for what it’s worth.”

Curiosity tugged at her. She knew nothing about the dating world, and it was clear he was well experienced. Surely there wouldn’t be any harm in gleaning some information from him…for research purposes, of course.

     “Why’s that?” she asked.

“All these women have rated him highly, yet they haven’t stayed with him. Why would that be?”

“I don’t know.” She frowned. “Maybe it just wasn’t the right time.”

     “For all those women?”

Okay, so that did sound a bit suspicious when he put it like that. “But the reviews—”

     “What do the reviews say?”

She pulled up Darren’s profile on the app and scanned down the page. “‘Great guy but the timing wasn’t right.’” She shot him a smug look. “See? Told you.”

“He’s a total gentleman, but they didn’t have many common interests. Uh, another one says their jobs made dating too hard but that he was a nice person. Apparently, he’s romantic, but there wasn’t enough spark.” Darcy kept scrolling. “He’s kind and funny, a great conversationalist. I can’t see any red flags here.”

     “He’s got a small dick.”

     Darcy almost choked. “Excuse me?”

Reed shrugged. “Or he doesn’t know how to make a woman come.”

“Stop,” she hissed, the heat flushing through her body in a way that was entirely too pleasurable. Totally, totally inappropriate. “You can’t say that.”

“Why not? It’s just sex. And sometimes you have to look at what people aren’t saying to understand what they are.” He nodded. “Words can be unreliable like that.”

Darcy shook her head and stuffed her phone into her bag. This conversation had shot out of her comfort zone. Like a whole solar system out of her comfort zone. Listening to Reed talk about sex was… God, she didn’t even know. Her imagination was serving up all kinds of dirty scenarios, but she tamped them down.

     Reed was off-limits.

Not only because of the bad reviews, but also because it was clear he could run circles around her verbally. There wasn’t a doubt in her mind that he would do the same thing in the bedroom.

The Winter Games are over, but the bedroom games are just beginning…

This is about the time I normally hang up my snowboard and chill for a while. Except this year. This year, I’m dealing with what fate dealt me at the Winter Games—nope, not gold. A broken arm.

Since I’m not close to my family, I head to my best friend, Skylar’s pad to recoup. Turns out having your gorgeous, single, sexy friend wait on you hand and foot can blur the lines between friendship and romance.

Which is exactly why I’ve decided to help her find a boyfriend.

Yeah, you heard me right. I’m going to help her comb through every dating app available until she finds the perfect man. What else could remind me of my place in her life more than watching her fall for someone else?

I can deal. I’m used to pushing through pain. I’m an Olympian after all.

REVIEW

As soon as I heard that Piper Rayne, one of my favourite writing duos, were writing a new series of standalones centred around the Winter Olympics, I was ridiculously excited! I love Piper Rayne, sports romances, and the Winter Olympics...so what's not to love? Now that I've read the first and second books, I can tell you that it's exactly what I hoped it would be and I love it all! These books are fun, they're sexy, sweet, and I couldn't put them down!

After finishing (and LOVING) the first book in the Bedroom Games Series, COLD AS ICE, I couldn't wait to read Dax and Demi's story! Then once I started ON THIN ICE, I couldn't put it down!

Dax and Demi were fantastic! Their chemistry was off the charts, and the story was wonderful. I'm a sucker for stories with hate-to-love and second chance romances, so I loved the combination of tropes that Piper Rayne used in this story! Dax and Demi were intense, and I loved seeing their relationship shift and grow, and how well they complemented each other! I really enjoyed how snowboarding and skiing fit into the story, too!

Along with Dax and Demi, I loved getting to see what was happening with Mia and Grady (the main character's from the first book, COLD AS ICE), and I loved the peek at what Skylar and Beckett's relationship is like (their book is next!). I'm really enjoying the group dynamics in this series, and I really can't wait to see what happens in the next book in the Bedroom Games Series, BREAK THE ICE!

Overall, I thought that ON THIN ICE was amazing! It was exactly what I wanted from a sports romance set during the Olympics, and I loved the main characters, Dax and Demi! ON THIN ICE was a fast-paced romance that had me eager to read more, and I think that anyone who loves hate-to-love and second chance romances will enjoy it! If you're like me and you also love sports romances, I think you'll absolutely love it!

I'm absolutely loving this series! It's fun, sexy, and hilarious! I seriously can't recommend it enough! :D

Review: WILDCAT (Mavericks Tackle Love #1) by Max Monroe

WILDCAT (Mavericks #1)
by Max Monroe

Pub Date: January 30, 2018
Source: Received a copy to participate in the blog tour & give an honest review.

Blurb:

Wildcat: a football formation in which the ball is snapped, not to the quarterback, but to another player lined up in the quarterback position.

Wild, Cat: a beautiful woman from the sky, who hooked me against the rails, and has me on the ropes. Sweet like honey, with a hint of sass burning behind her pretty brown eyes, she took over my heart without warning.

I’m Quinn Bailey, quarterback for the New York Mavericks.

Sports analysts predicted I’d break records and take my team all the way.

But no one predicted this.

And just like the other team, I never saw it coming.

Disclaimer:

Things this book is:
  • Romantic Comedy
  • #1 in the Mavericks Tackle Love Series
  • Can be read as a complete standalone.
Things it isn’t:
  • Paranormal: The only thing magical is inside Quinn Bailey's pants.
  • Boring: Pssh, please. Max Monroe doesn't do boring.
  • Short: Prior to reading, prepare yourself for one huge, long, thick…book.

REVIEW

Hmmm, it took me a while to figure out how I felt about this book. I was ridiculously excited for it, and unfortunately I didn’t love it like I hoped I would. This was my first time reading something by Max Monroe and I’d really been looking forward to finally trying out something from this duo as their books sound amazing!

I wish I’d loved this one, I really do...but alas, love was not in the cards for me and Wildcat.

At this point I know I didn’t totally dislike it, but I really can’t quite figure out how much I liked it either...I’m a pretty feelings-based reader so I think it all boils down to the characters for me. I really loved Quinn, but I just didn’t click with Cat at all. I found her personality super inconsistent. One moment she’s this fierce, dynamic in-charge woman and the next moment it’s like she doesn’t even have a brain and can’t see what’s super obvious in front of her. She drove me totally bonkers with her self-doubt. A little insecurity makes sense—Quinn is a famous athlete in the public eye after all, but when a character is constantly coming back to the exact same doubts when they’ve seemingly overcome them, it gets excessive. It’s even worse when they think about how they were raised to be confident and not insecure...only to follow it up with the same insecurity once again. It just didn’t make sense to me, and Quinn was so great at showing Cat how into her he was...dude was not subtle at all, so it made her doubt even stranger and it just really irritated me.

I didn’t really feel a legitimate connection between the two of them either. Quinn and Cat definitely found each other attractive, that I felt, but I didn’t feel the deeper connection that they both claimed was there. We got a lot of inner monologue about it, but not a lot of interactions where we actually saw it.

For me the best part of Wildcat other than Quinn because I really loved his personality (his abs and body weren’t bad either *wink*), had to be his brother, Denver. Denver was hilarious and I loved how he and Quinn played off of each other. Their nicknames, jokes, and relationship were hands down my favourite parts of the book! If this had been a book about their sibling relationship and bromance I would’ve totally loved it. :p

Overall, I thought that Wildcat was okay, but I definitely didn't love it. There were definitely parts of it that I loved, but since this is a romance and that’s the part I didn’t “click” with I’m feeling pretty contradictory over it all. I’m not sure if I plan to read the next book in this series after this either. I want to, I really do because I love sports romances and I did like Sean (Quinn’s teammate whose book is next), but at this point I’m not sure if this series is for me.

DESCRIPTION

A sexy new standalone from USA Today bestseller Sarina Bowen.

EXCERPT

I grab a towel off a waiting stack of them and toss it onto the edge. “You can sit and put your feet in.”

She’s wearing a short little knit dress that’s been making me crazy all evening, so it would be easy enough for her to strip off those stockings, sit on the towel, and drop both feet in.

And that’s what she does. She eases one stocking down over a smooth knee and tugs it off.

I don’t want to stand there staring like a middle-school boy. Okay, I do want to. But I don’t want to make her uncomfortable. So I go over to the sound system instead, and I set my phone on the speaker and cue up a really old playlist. One she’ll recognize.

When I turn around again, she’s seated on the towel, both legs hanging down into the churning water. “Ah. Wow.” She looks up at me, her eyes sparkling. “Nice place you got here.”

“Isn’t it?” I toe off my shoes and kick them to the side.

The first song comes on, and it’s a Macklemore tune that we used to play far too often in our first office. Rebecca laughs immediately. “You didn’t! I haven’t heard this playlist in forever. But I’ll bet I still know every transition. Lady Gaga is next.”

      “She sure is.”

Rebecca kicks her feet, making a splash. “I have a little confession to make.”

“What’s that?” I loosen my tie and slide the knot out.

“Well…” She grins up at me. “I used to have a crush on you. Back in the early days.”

My hands freeze on the tie silk. “Get out of town. You did not.”

“No, I really did.” Her cheeks are pink. “That first year especially. But you were taken, and you were my boss. Those two things made it pretty easy to tamp down, when you’re a practical girl like me.”

I walk over and drop down beside her, my back to the water, though, because I’m still wearing trousers and socks. “So how does that work, exactly?”

“What?” She gives me a sidelong glance, but then looks away again and won’t meet my eyes.

“How do you stop wanting someone? I’m a practical person, but I don’t see how that makes it any easier. Nothing seems to mute the raging attraction I have for you.”

Her chin turns quickly toward me, and I seize the opportunity to kiss her. And it only takes one kiss—one slide of my lips over hers, and I’m on fire again.

We’re facing opposite directions, so it’s awkward as hell. But I don’t even care. I take greedy sip after greedy sip of her mouth, until she pulls back to stare at me. Her color is high and her eyes are bright and happy. “This is like Twister.”

“It’s better,” I correct. Lady Gaga comes on, just as Becca said she would. “Are we getting into this pool or what?”

Becca kicks a foot in the water. “I’m tempted. But I don’t have a bathing suit.”

      “Oh, snap.”

She smiles and shakes her head. “Are you really getting in?”

“We don’t have to.” I’m never going to pressure her.

Her fingers trail across the surface of the bubbling water. “But this is an adventure, right?”

“Right.” I stand up and remove my socks. She’s watching me. And I can’t read her expression. “What?”

“Just wondering what else you’re going to take off.” She smiles.

“Come here.” The order rolls off my tongue.

But Rebecca doesn’t blink. She gets up and turns toward me, curiosity in her eyes

“You tell me. What am I taking off?”

She puts two hands tentatively on my chest, and I make myself be patient. Everything I ever wanted is on the other side of this moment. I just need us to break through this awkwardness—the “will we or won’t we” tension.

Her fingers find the top button of my shirt. “I’m not getting in the water unless you are.”

That’s a compromise I can live with. I find my lower shirt buttons and work upwards, until we meet in the middle. She pushes the two halves of my shirt apart and runs a hand down my bare chest.

My inner caveman stands up and cheers.

REVIEW

It may be only be the beginning of the year, but I'm calling it...this is going to be one of my top books of 2018!

Holllllllyyy cow! As soon as I started reading BROOKLYNAIRE I couldn't put it down. I stayed up reading it way later on a work-night than I should have and had to physically put my kindle in another room so that I could get at least a little bit of sleep. I absolutely LOVED Nate and Becca, and I thought that their romance was AMAZING! This was seriously everything that I could've possibly hoped for in this book, and after I finished it, I immediately wanted to read it again! I could seriously get stuck in an infinite loop just reading this book over...and over, and I'd love every single moment!

The reason that I'd already had hopes for this book was because I'd already met Becca and Nate in Sarina Bowen's Brooklyn Bruisers series and I shipped them from the very start! As soon as I heard that Sarina was writing their story I was ecstatic, and I couldn't wait to read it...then I saw the cover and my excitement level got even higher! I'm still super smitten with this cover, and it makes me love Nate for far more than just his personality. ;P

Once I actually started reading BROOKLYNAIRE, I loved Becca and Nate even more! I loved that Becca was so fierce, confident, and extremely sure of who she was. I respected her so much, and I absolutely loved getting to see inside of her head...and Nate. I loved EVERYTHING about Nate. I thought he was sweet in a seriously adorably, dorky way, and he was so awkward about certain things which made me love him even more! He was intelligent, kind, and super thoughtful when it came to Becca. I loved that Becca was always on his mind, and I really, truly adored the two of them together! Their friendship and working relationship was amazing, but their romantic relationship was even better! I loved seeing how their relationship changed, and I was floored by just how perfectly it grew throughout the story. I honestly couldn't have imagined it any better and I thought that it was absolutely perfect!

Overall, I loved BROOKLYNAIRE! It's been my favourite out of all of Sarina Bowen's books that I've read so far! I loved Becca and Nate so much, and I thought that this story was wonderful! I loved the writing, the romance, the Jane Austen/Pride & Prejudice references, all the puns and the palindromes, and of course I loved the characters! BROOKLYNAIRE had me constantly smiling, laughing, and swooning and I seriously CANNOT recommend it enough. If you already love Sarina Bowen's books, especially her Brooklyn Bruisers series, I think you'll love this, but I also think that you'll be fine picking this one up without reading her other books. I really appreciated having read the previous books, but if you haven't read them, you'd be able to catch up as it really centres mostly just around Becca and Nate! It's a fantastic friends-to-lovers, office romance and Nate also happens to be a Billionaire (if that title didn't give him away ;P), so it's packed full of fan-favourite tropes and Sarina Bowen has deftly mastered them all! If you decide to give this book a go I hope you love it as much as I did!

Review: THE SCHEMER (Harbor City #3) by Avery Flynn

Source: Received an egalley from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Publisher: Entangled: Amara
Release Date: February 5, 2018
Number of Pages: 300 (ebook)

DESCRIPTION

Tyler Jacobson has a plan for everything—except how to handle his completely annoying, utterly frustrating, and totally sexy upstairs neighbor. He couldn't care less if Everly Ribinski thinks he's equally irritating—until he discovers she's the only one who can help him land a business deal that will finally make him feel like he's more than just a guy from the wrong side of the tracks.

Color him shocked when Everly refuses to help, insisting she should have run him over in the parking garage when she had the chance. Harsh. But possibly deserved. Tyler may have spent the last few months reveling in annoying the fiery gallery owner with a dark past, but he's got secret leverage she can't refuse.

If only one meeting didn't turn into a fake date that turned into more. Way more. Like naked and hot as hell more.

The last thing either of them wants is to catch feelings for someone who is so obviously not their type. Good thing that will never happen. Right?

Each book in the Harbor City series is STANDALONE:
* The Negotiator
* The Charmer
* The Schemer

REVIEW

I'm always a fan of a good rom-com with a hate-to-love plot and THE SCHEMER had this in spades! As soon as I read the description I was intrigued and I immediately wanted a copy in my hands! I loved the idea of the neighbours that don't get along, who then have a fake date that turns into more where they don't want to catch feelings...so many great things packed into one book and you know what, Avery Flynn completely delivered and she delivered it very, very well! I thought that THE SCHEMER was fantastic!

Tyler and Everly were amazing characters! They were both intelligent and had a tendency to scheme, which I loved! It was so interesting to see how their brains worked as they tried to outsmart and outmaneuver each other, and I loved that they both found the other to be a bit unpredictable, but that they could also read each other fairly well. It was an interesting dichotomy that worked extremely well with the two characters. It worked even better because we got to see both of their POVs so we knew what each of them didn't know. ;)

Overall, I thought that THE SCHEMER was fantastic! I absolutely loved the characters, and the story was wonderful! I thought that the romance was both sweet and super sexy, and I couldn't get enough of it! I can't wait to go back and read more of Avery Flynn's books now because I thought this one was fabulous! I'd recommend THE SCHEMER to anyone looking for a rom-com that will leave them laughing, smiling, and possibly even blushing at times (depends how easily you blush ;P)! You can read THE SCHEMER in chronological order as part of the Harbor City series, or on its own. I read it without having read the first two books and I wasn't lost at all. ;)

Review: COLD AS ICE (Bedroom Games #1) by Piper Rayne

Cold As Ice (Bedroom Games #1)
Release Date: January 29th, 2018
Source: Received an egalley in exchange for an honest review.

It may be Winter Games, but the bedroom games are about to begin…

Competing in South Korea on the world stage is hard enough.

Having to spend the entire press tour beforehand with a woman who hates me?
Karma really is a bitch.

While she’s spent the last four years loathing me, I’ve spent them ignoring the guilt that gnaws at my stomach.

All Mia Salter cares about is that I’m her brother’s ex-best friend and it’s her duty to hate me. The funny thing is, I barely noticed her back when she was trying to keep up with us on the slopes. Now, as both of us prepare to go for gold, I’m seeing her in a whole different light—and it involves a whole lotta different positions.

No one said the path to the Olympics would be easy.

R E A D   T O D A Y!

All copies sold the during release week include the prequel short story, Iced Out!

Piper Rayne, or Piper and Rayne, whichever you prefer because we’re not one author, we’re two. Yep, you get two USA Today Bestselling authors for the price of one. You might be wondering if you know us? Maybe you’ll read our books and figure it out. Maybe you won’t. Does it really matter?

We aren’t trying to stamp ourselves with a top-secret label. We wanted to write without apology. We wanted to not be pigeon-holed into a specific type of story. Everyone has their favorite authors, right? And when you pick up their books, you expect something from them. Whether it’s an alpha male, heavy angst, a happily ever after, there’s something you are absolutely certain the book will contain. Heck, we’re readers, too, we get it!

All that, AND we thought it'd be a helluva lot more fun if we did this writing thing together!

What can we tell you about ourselves? We both have kindles full of one-clickable books. We're both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We're both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes, quirky heroines that make us laugh, and lots of sexy times. Here's hoping you do, too!

REVIEW

I'm practically a broken record now because I'm always sharing the fact that I absolutely LOVE sports romances, but here I am again, admitting that fact. I love sports romances, and I have a serious soft spot for ones that tie in with the Olympics, Winter or Summer...doesn't matter. Some people like to read Christmas or Halloween stories around the holidays, well me...I like to get my Olympic fever going with a good ol' sports romance. When I saw that one of my favourite author duos, Piper Rayne, were writing a series of books revolving around Olympic snowboarders, I was super excited and I knew that I needed to read them...well, I've now read the first one and let me tell you, they did an amazing job!

I absolutely loved COLD AS ICE! Grady and Mia were amazing characters. I loved their passion for snowboarding, I loved the tension between them, and I loved how Piper and Rayne uncovered the shared past between them. As soon as I started reading I didn't want to stop! The mix of tropes in this story was pretty interesting, and it definitely had me compelled! The majority of the story is told through Grady's POV and I loved that! He was cocky, but he was pretty damn endearing and had a hidden sweeter side that I loved getting to see. Mia was sooooo fierce, and I absolutely adored her! I loved how driven she was, and I loved seeing her relationship grow with Grady. They were seriously sexy together! I also loved their friends so much! I'm extremely excited for the two follow-up books in the Bedroom Games series...luckily they're being released every two weeks so we won't have to wait long! ;)

COLD AS ICE was sexy, funny, and just an absolutely wonderful ride! If you’re looking for an awesome Winter Olympics romance this is definitely one worth reading! I adored Grady and Mia, and I loved that we got a prequel of their story at the end of the book, too. Now I can’t wait to read Dax and Demi’s story and I’m looking forward to some Grady and Mia cameos! ;)
