It's Monday, What Are You Reading? (46)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? at One Person's Journey Through a World of Books

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, is a bookish meme hosted by One Person's Journey Through a World of Books, where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It’s a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list. So hop on over to Journey and join in...and leave a comment here so I can check out what you are reading.

Books I Read Last Week:

So, Graveminder was the one book I actually finished this week, and luckily it was awesome and I loved it, so my week wasn't completely terrible reading wise. :P My review for this one will be Zoe's blog, since she was so nice and gave me her copy...but as to when I'll get that written I don't know yet. I'm going to try and crank out a bunch of reviews either today, or another time this week...I haven't been in much of a review writing mood lately, but hopefully I can force myself out of that. :P

Reading Now:

My book cover doesn't actually match this one, but I've been too lazy to change it. :P This one's for school, and it isn't a bad story, but it definitely isn't one that I'd normally choose for myself. It sure makes you think though...and also realize just how nasty governments can be...and the people, too. :(

I also couldn't resist starting this one when I got to my parents house on Friday. I'm not very far yet because I've been reading Obasan...and watching a few movies that my mom bought, but I'm excited about it already! :D

Books I Want to Read This Week:
I swear that I am actually going to start this later this week. :P Once I finish Obasan you can bet that I'll be picking this one up! :D

And what are you reading???

Check out One Person's Journey Through a World of Books to see what other people are reading. :)

Happy Reading!!!

  1. Yay! I'm excited I guilted you into posting this early, even if your reading week was about as productive as mine (I finished two books but they were both audio so they don't really count anyway). Sigh, you better be picking up Birthmarked soon! If your copy of Prized happens to expire though just let me know and I'll mail you mine when I'm done reading it. Since I'm so confident you'll love Birthmarked that you'll obviously have to pick up Prized as well (and so do I... eventually!)

I'm also curious to see your thoughts on Crossed, I just got it this week too as you saw but my copy of Matched hasn't arrived yet haha so I'm going to wait and read them one after another. I'm so impatient with sequels!

Obasan sound interesting although depressing, it's probably good you have classes that get you to read outside of your normal stuff though, otherwise you might get sick of YA.

...just kidding, that's not possible ;)

Happy reading this week Ambur! And no rush at all on the Graveminder review, I'm so happy you loved it!

  2. haha nice :P look at you using your peer pressure on me! :P haha Oh we're champs, reading/listening up a storm one book at time! lol I will, I will! :D I'll try and get to it before the egalley expires, but if it expires before I get to it, I will gladly accept yours once you're finished! lol

I think I'll like it...and I'm hoping I'm right! Oh me too...me too! I do not like waiting...at all! haha

It is interesting, but some of it's so sad! haha so not possible! But I do like reading other stuff...every once in a while, although usually my "other" is just more adult fiction, which is slightly more mature than YA, so it's not much of a change really! haha

Happy reading week to you too, Zoe! Hopefully we have more productive weeks this time! lol Just for being so nice...I'm going to have to work even harder to get it done...jk, well maybe jk. I'm not even sure if I'm joking. I really hope you actually read this comment, or it'll be like I'm just rambling to myself. :P Thanks again for giving it to me. :)

  3. Haha, don't worry, I read it :)

Sigh I'm trying to get ONE review done before I go to sleep, hopefully I can make it happen. In the meantime I'm stealing yours to post tomorrow on my mainly dead blog! <3 just thought I'd warn you!

  4. Yay! I'm glad I wasn't talking to myself! ;) haha

You can do it! And that's awesome. I'll link to it on my blog once I wake up tomorrow ;) Thanks for the warning! ;D

  5. Haha I'm trying to explain how come I loved Unearthly even though I shouldn't! It's annoying when something surprises you like that haha, makes it a lot harder to write about.

  6. Looking forward to your take on Crossed. I liked Matched and hope it lives up!

  7. @Zoe: Hmmm, I hate when that happens. It's like you know what you're thinking, but don't know how to explain it. I liked Unearthly, although I'm still not sure which boy I liked better...which makes me reallllllyyyy confused. If there's gonna be a love triangle, I like to KNOW who I like more...and with Unearthly I don't! Although, I like the both, so at least that way I'm not upset when she picks one. :P lol

So, you thought you'd not like the book, but loved it? Was it the writing, the background story, the cool flying parts, the side characters that made you smile?? Do those little questions help trigger something you liked? :)

    @Chris: Thanks! :D I hope so, too! :D

  8. Haha all of the above! But thanks for the inspiration.

I LOVED Tucker, so much better than Christian (I found him really boring actually!). He actually reminded me a bit of Quince, who you haven't met yet (from Forgive my Fins) but who is absolutely adorable. Plus, I listened to the audiobook and the narrator gave Tucker the most charming Southern accent. However, even though this was an easy choice for me I know exactly what you mean in that I usually have a clear preference for a particular love interest and it drives me insane when I don't.

The only thing I'm really disappointed about is apparently the second book focuses more on Christian. I can see why from the ending... but still :(

  9. You're welcome! :D haha

...I'm kind of a sucker for the pretty ones...*hangs head in shame* I always fall for the pretty faces...I blame Jace from TMI! haha man I need more hours in the day so I can read all these books I need to read! haha oooooohhh accents...I'm a sucker for those too! It does, it makes me feel all conflicted, like I'm cheating on them both or something...I do know it's just a book, but still. haha

Oh yay! Sorry...my pretty weakness is in full swing right there. I'm kind of excited to read more about him, even though I do like Tucker, just because to see the story from his POV or know more about what happened to him would be awesome. I wonder how different his past is from Clara's. Awe, I bet there'll still be lots of Tucker...Tucker is too cute to be cut from the story...plus, I'm sure Cynthia Hand wants us to be conflicted...or maybe I'm the only one, but either way, she wrote Tucker to be pretty dang awesome, so there'll still be lots of him, I just know it! :)

  10. Fini! I'll post it on Tuesday, it's pretty long so I guess your thoughts were too inspiring :P

Gah, I haven't read TMI (I plan to someday, there's just so many books in to read, like you said! Need more hours in the day) but that is kinda funny about falling for the pretty ones. I definitely have a soft spot for the tough masculine ones as my boyfriend is a tradesperson and definitely has more than a touch of strong, silent and handy type in him! Quince spends a lot of time working on his motorcycle and taking care of his mom for example (Just like Tucker takes care of his sister and is all protective and outdoorsy and stuff!) and I admit I find that more attractive than the athletic popular type.

I do think Christian's backstory would be very interesting, so I kinda agree with you there, but if there is less Tucker I will be very very sad :(

  11. Awesome, I'll definitely check it out once you have it up. :) I'm like a muse! Wicked! lol

Oh, you NEED to! I'm in love with that series...even if the newest book made me sad. lol (We so do!)...I so have a type when it comes to books. I like em pretty, snarky, and kind of douchey. I really hope I'd never go for guys like them in real life. haha Well that's also pretty attractive...tough is definitely a hot quality. ;) my mom likes the really tough guys, so maybe I tend to go for the pretty ones so we don't like the same guys. She's a Vinn Diesel girl...I so am not. I'd pick Ryan Reynolds myself....haha ya popular isn't really an attractive quality. I definitely draw to charismatic characters, which usually are the ones that end up being "popular" in a book, although not always...which is why in this one I was probably torn. lol

I would be too....I'm so conflicted! I need to reread this book...probably won't happen though since I need to read a bunch of others for the first time first. :P haha

  12. You totally reminded me to put a hold on Graveminder at the library! So thanks! I'll definitely be checking out Crossed and Birth Marked before too long. Great books this week! Happy Reading!
