It's Monday, What Are You Reading? (102)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? at One Person's Journey Through a World of Books

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, is a bookish meme hosted by One Person's Journey Through a World of Books, where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It’s a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list. So hop on over to Journey and join in...and leave a comment here so I can check out what you are reading.

I didn't post before leaving on my holiday or while in Mexico, so I'm just going to make this post for while I was in Mexico and after I got back. :)

Books I Read Last 2 Weeks:
This was the first one I read in Mexico and I absolutely loved it! :D Jaci Burton's Play by Play series is definitely a perfect choice for a relaxing, vacation read. :D Alicia and Garrett were fantastic. They had awesome banter, and some incredibly electrifying chemistry that was great as unresolved sexual tension...and even better when they finally got together! ;)

I loved The Vicious Deep, so I couldn't wait to read The Savage Blue and it didn't disappoint! Tristan was as real and funny as ever, and I only wish that the book had been longer. I definitely didn't get enough of Tristan, and waiting for the next one is going to be brutal. :P I absolutely loved this one though and I definitely recommend this series. :D

I really enjoyed Paper Towns. It was funny, and refreshing...but I must admit that after Looking for Alaska...I was pretty worried about Margo! :P I definitely enjoy John Green's writing style and absolutely LOVE his characterization skills and sense of humour. I do wish his endings weren't quite so open-ended though....but at the same time, I appreciate the realism of the open-ended ending because life doesn't have a finite ending either. Still...the only thing about Paper Towns that kind of kept me from loving it was the ending. I think I'll have to reread it sometime soon and maybe I think I'll appreciate it more. It was a very thoughtful ending even though I have no clue what's in store for Quentin and Margo. :P Paper Towns definitely made me eager to read even more of John Green's books though, so I'll have to get on that!

My review for Game. Set. Match. will also be up later today...shortly after this post actually, so I won't say too much here, but I will say that I loved it. I loved the characters, and I loved getting to see characters in such similar, yet different situations. I also loved that each girl was so unique...and the lack of a love triangle made me even happier. :P While the girls are at a tennis academy, I don't think you have to be a tennis fan to love this book, but it did leave me wanting to watch a game! haha

This novella is from the Masque of the Red Death series, and while it says it's #1.5 in the series, it actually does take place during the first book and its from April's and Kent's points of view. I actually really enjoyed it, and I also loved that chapter one of book 2 was included at the end....although now I'm seriously desperate to read Dance of the Red Death! I'd definitely recommend checking out Glitter & Doom if you've read Masque of the Red Death, it fills in some blanks nicely and helps you get to know some of the secondary characters a bit better. :)

Reading Now:
I'm participating in the blog tour for this one, and I'm almost finished it....and I am absolutely LOVING it! :D I really love Terra (that's the main character's name as well as the title), and her story is hard to put down!

I started this one on the plane back from Mexico and I'm liking it. I'm not super far in yet, but I'm enjoying what I've read so far. :)

Just started this one before leaving for Mexico...and then my Kindle died while I was there, so I haven't really moved on this one. I'm planning on finishing it soon though because I am really curious as to what really happened in Peru. ;)

Since I'm finished classes and exams now, I figured it was the perfect time to get a bit of Game of Thrones reading in. ;) I'm trying to take it easy though because I get hooked on these books pretty fast. I managed to limit myself to only several hundred pages. :P I'm gonna try to pace myself with this one so that I can read review books alongside of it. :)

Books I Want to Read This Week:

Wanted is for a blog tour later this week, too...one that I would have read had my Kindle been working. Oh well...I'll get to it! It sounds awesome so I'm pretty sure I'll be hooked right away. ;D

Drowning in You is for a blog tour next week, and it sounds FANTASTIC!!! I jumped at the chance to be a part of the blog tour for it because it honestly sounds sooooo good! Can't wait to start this one! :D

So, that's what I've read over the past two weeks, what I'm reading now, and what I want to read. How about you? What are you reading???

Books I Read Last Week:
I absolutely loved this one! :D I also kind of just love that both this series and Aimee Laine's other series, Mimics of Rune, take place in Rune, North Carolina. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be the same town, but I'm not positive...I'm half-expecting there to be some cross-over at one point though. ;) Anyway, I loved this one! Taylor and Ian were awesome characters, and the "echoes" in this story were really interesting. :D

I loved this one, too. :) It's been a while since I've read a mystery, so this one was pretty refreshing, and the whole active fiction aspect made the mystery even better because you got to actually be involved! It was pretty neat. :D

Deeper We Fall was also pretty awesome. :D I especially loved the relationships and friendships between the characters, and the two main characters, Charlotte (Lottie), and Alexander (Zan) were fantastic...and I loved their nicknames. :D Overall, it was a great story, and I'll be reviewing it for a blog tour later in May. :)

Reading Now:
As I mentioned in my StS post yesterday, I got a Kobo Arc HD to sample from Kobo Books, and I started reading The Raven Boys on there and I'm loving it so far! Although I didn't expect there to be so many central characters. haha I'm really enjoying it though. :D

Books I Want to Read This Week:
Now that I've read book 1, Dead Letter Office, I need to read this one! :D haha I'm gonna have to squeeze this one in between study and paper-writing breaks! I'm almost done all my school stuff though....so close! I'll be done by Thursday! :D

Books I Read Last Week:
I finished this one late last Monday and absolutely loved it! :D Dante is one bad boy that is hard not to like. :P I can't wait to read the sequel, The Liberator!

Surface was fantastic! :D I loved the backstory and it was explained really well. I only wish that the romance hadn't been so rushed. I'm pretty sure that there will be a sequel because this one ended on a very open note, but I'm not positive yet! I'd definitely love to read more though! :D My review will be up for the blog tour tomorrow. :)

Reading Now:
I'm really enjoying this one! :D I didn't have a lot of time to read last week because I had two finals, but I was glad that I could get started more on this one. :D

I've only read the first bit of this one, and so far it sounds interesting! :) I'm looking forward to seeing where the story is headed. :D

Books I Want to Read This Week:
I'm participating in a blog tour for this one next month, and can't wait to get started. :D

Eek! :D My copy of The Rising finally came today! I'm going to definitely try to start this one soon!!! :D

Books I Read Last Week:
This was the last book I had to read for my proletarian literature class, and it definitely took some effort. We didn't even have to read through the whole thing, but this book really dragged. The only good parts seemed to be the ones that we skipped! haha I glimpsed through those chapters and it got juicy. :P I definitely wouldn't recommend this one for light reading, but if you're interested in socialism and socialist classics, you'll probably like this one. :)

Reading Now:

Since I was reading The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, I didn't get to this one, but I'm still excited for it! :D Hopefully I'll have time for more recreational reading soon!

I did make some time to start Victoria Scott's The Collector, and so far I am LOVING it! :D

Books I Want to Read This Week:
I've part of a blog tour for this one and it sounds fantastic! :D Can't wait to start it!

Books I Read Last Week:
I loved this novella, and now I'm even more anxious for Caged because I NEED to know what happens next! haha I also just have to say that I was super thrilled with what happened in this novella...so freaking psyched! In a couple of days I'll post my review for you to see my gushing, and I've got some blog tour stuff for you...like the awesome giveaway that's going on! :D
This was the last book we read for my American Lit class and it was kind of strange, but interesting. It definitely isn't my favourite book ever, but I did enjoy how different it was. I kind of like reading outside of my element...this book was definitely out there though. According to my prof, the movie wasn't very good, but it did follow the book for the most part. He also called Robert Pattinson the young version of Keanu Reeves...and I must admit, Keanu is one of two actors I actively avoid because I don't like him (the other in case you were wondering is Nicholas Cage)...and I don't think Robert Pattinson is that bad...but apparently lots of people think he is. Anyway...I'm ending this tangent now because it's getting pretty random. :P haha

I'm not sure if it was because I was talking about Twilight with my friends in my American Lit class, or because my fellow Edmonton Book Blogger, Kristilyn at Reading in Winter, reread Twilight recently...but I had an intense urge to reread it myself, so I did. And I still loved it. I do agree that compared to newer YA, the dialogue isn't as smooth and the characters aren't as well defined or developed, but I still completely got swept up in the story and read it pretty much straight-through. I also realized how much I preferred the book to the movie...and I really think Bella does have a personality in the books, like I said it's not as well-defined as the main characters we're used to, but it was totally there...movie-Bella, on the other hand, totally doesn't have that personality. I didn't even remember that Bella was sarcastic. :P Anyway, I actually enjoyed rereading it, and hopefully I'll get the chance to reread the other three in the saga soon. :)

Reading Now:
I'm just at the beginning of this one, and haven't gotten very far at all yet, but hopefully I can finish it once I turn in my last big paper for the semester. :)

Books I Want to Read This Week:
I got this one from the library a little while ago and can't wait to read it! :)

Books I Read Last Week:
I am a HUGE Lauren Barnholdt fan. :D The first book I ever read of hers was Two-Way Street, which happens to be the companion novel to Right of Way...and the two main characters, Jordan and Courtney, actually showed up in this one a bit, which I loved. :D I also just loved this story. It was cute, funny, and ended on a note that left me with a ginormous smile on my face! :D

LOVED this one!!!! :D Clockwork Princess is most definitely my favourite read of 2013 so far. It was the perfect way for the trilogy to end, and had me feeling just as much as the first two did. :D If you haven't started The Infernal Devices trilogy already, I seriously suggest you start now! ;D

Reading Now:
I started reading Resonance and I'm really enjoying it so far. :)

I'm reading Cosmopolis for school. Not too far in yet, so hopefully I'll like it. :P

Books I Want to Read This Week:
I've been wanting to read this one for a while, and I'm finally going to! I'm not actually sure why I've waiting so long to be honest because I've been looking forward to it. :P Hopefully, I can start it this week! :)

Books I Read Last Week:
This one was kind of strange, but I ended up actually not minding it. I didn't hate it, but I didn't all around love it either. :P haha I think this one probably would've interested me had I know the actual historical significance surrounding it. Overall, it was really interesting, but ended up just making me sad. :S

I LOVED this one!! Seriously LOVED it! Wallace is so fan-freaking-tastic, and I absolutely loved Rena! She was feisty! :D I definitely can't wait to read more in this series, and you can expect my review to be up tomorrow. ;)

This was a really cute Valentines-themed novella, and I absolutely adored it! It was so cute, and definitely left me with a big smile on my face! :D

So, I still haven't read Pretty Amy, but I still loved Dear Cassie. Cassie was a pretty abrasive character, but I loved how real she was, and I found her very easy to sympathize with. I'll definitely be going back and reading Pretty Amy--sometime soon hopefully!

Reading Now:
I haven't picked this one up for a little bit, but technically it's the only book I'm currently reading. :P I've been stretching this one out though because I kind of get completely absorbed in this series and it's such a long book that I just don't have the time to devote to it! Soon though....soon I can finish it! And then I'll be stuck waiting for Book 6 with the other ASoFI fans! :P

Books I Want to Read This Week:
All I'm saying is...my pre-order better be at Chapters this week or I'm not going to be a grumpkin all week. :P I seriously CANNOT wait to read this, and I have a paper to write this week that I better make progress on early in the week since I will want to drop everything for Clockwork Princess. :P

Books I Read Last Week:
I really liked this one. :) I especially enjoyed all the music-related stuff, since I'm totally a sucker for that...plus, George is British. *dreamy sigh* haha It was a wonderful story. I do wish that we got some kind of epilogue or something with George and Lexi in the future though. I just wasn't ready to be done with those two yet. ;)

I had an egalley of this that expired a while ago, and I finally got the chance to finish it. :) I'm so glad I did because it was fantastic! There are some slight similarities between Ironskin and Jane Eyre, but honestly it was when I finally started to move past the similarities that I really started to enjoy it. I think it's more accurately inspired by Jane Eyre, with some characters' names that are similar, but overall, I think it's a very strong story on its own, and I loved the fey element! So neat! I can't wait to read the second book, Copperhead! :D

Reading Now:
This one is for my American Lit class and it's kind of strange so far...the timeline is very very strange, but at least it's a short one. :P I'm hoping it'll make more sense soon. haha

Books I Want to Read This Week:
I'm participating in a blog tour for this one, and it sounds really good! :D Hopefully I can finish Black Water soon, and get to Strength! :D
