In My Mailbox (35)

In My Mailbox at The Story Siren

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren, and inspired by her friend, Alea of Pop Culture Junkie. It's a way to share the books that you've received over the past week. They could come from the bookstore, the library, a friend, your mailbox or wherever. It gives us all a chance to showcase the books that we've gotten, and maybe give others an idea for the book they want to read or buy next. :)

I'm posting this a lot later than usual because I went to see Cabin in the Woods last night, and didn't get home time late. I definitely encourage everyone to go see it, it was actually really awesome. It's a meta-horror, and kind of pokes fun at the things that always happen in horror movies. I found myself laughing a lot more than I found myself cringing in fear, but with Joss Whedon ,I'm not too surprised that it was so awesome. :)

Anywho...onto my mailbox!

For Review:

While He Was Away by Karen Schreck
The Summer of No Regrets by Katherine Grace Bond
The Curiosities: A Collection of Stories by Maggie Stiefvater, Tessa Gratton, and Brenna Yovanoff
The Glimpse by Claire Merle
Silver by Talia Vance

All of the above are from Netgalley and the respective publishers of each book. I'm participating in a blog tour for While He Was Away and The Summer of No Regrets, and I'm definitely looking forward to getting lost in their summery vibes. :) I'm also really excited for the other three. :D

Library:

Glass (Crank #2) by Ellen Hopkins

Oh, how I love the library! I've already devoured Changing the Game, and I'm hoping to get to Glass later in the week. :D

Bought:

When You Dare (Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor #1) by Lori Foster

Yay! I now have this whole series! I'm doing the blog tour for the fourth book, so I wanted to get my hands on the other three. That way I can eventually go back and read what I've missed! ;D Plus, I kind of just like to stare at these covers...they're seriously amazing and the eye-candy is simply delicious, as is Changing the Game, up above! ;D

---------------------------------------------------------

So, I didn't get any actual books in my physical mailbox this week, but I did get some amazing ones from Netgalley, and the library...plus, I finally got my hands on the first book in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series. :D I hope you all had very full mailboxes this week, and I'd like to thank Netgalley and all of the fabulous publishers on it who provided me with egalleys this week. :D

I'd love to know what you got in your mailbox, too! Feel free to leave a comment letting me know what you got, or a link taking me straight to your IMM post, and I'll come check it out! :D

The End of the Semester is Upon Us...

As the title of this post suggests, I'm going to be talking about school.

It's the end of the semester (FINALLY!), so my posting is going to be sporadic at best for the next couple of weeks...just like it was this week. Don't worry, I haven't disappeared, I'm probably just off studying/cramming (depending on the date of my nearest exam :P), or maybe relaxing with a book during my study breaks.

So, I'm gonna keep doing my memes just so you all don't miss me too much, but there might not be too many reviews for a bit. Although, I might post the odd update...and of course, I'll be posting once my exams finish...which will be in less than two weeks on April 26...I already can't wait! :D Freedom from classes for the next couple of months is so close...so, so close. *sigh*

Anyway, this post was just to let you all know that I haven't disappeared, and I'm gonna take the time to ask you some questions. :)

Is anyone else super excited for the end of their semester of school?
And even if you aren't (although I'm sure no one's sad to see it end, but if you are go ahead and tell me...I guarantee I'll be shocked :P), what are you taking? Are you in University, College, High School, or maybe something totally awesome that I can't even think of right now??

And I'm curious, has anyone had any amazing classes this semester?

I'd love to hear about them. I took a British Literature class that I enjoyed, and my Travel Lit class was pretty awesome, too...although we definitely read wayyyyyy too many books! Probably the only time I'll ever say that phrase! haha :P

So, that's all I've got to say for right now.
I hope everyone is doing awesome, and as always...

Other Covers:

Blue Moon's Expected Publication Date: December 3, 2012

I can't wait to read to read Blue Moon! I'm a huge fan of this series, and I've been anxiously awaiting this one! :D This cover is definitely risque, although I think the belly button makes it look dirtier than it is...I think it's because everything else is covered in that gauzy fabric, and being able to see the belly button through it makes it seem really really erotic...when really the rest just looks like a silhouette. I absolutely love the cover for Blue Moon though, but I'm a little disappointed that the emblem that's been on all the other covers isn't on this one, and there aren't any wolves either. It doesn't really look like it belongs with the other covers, but it is still pretty...especially that gorgeous moon. :)

What do you think of the cover???
Who else is super excited for Blue Moon???

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? (71)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? at One Person's Journey Through a World of Books

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, is a bookish meme hosted by One Person's Journey Through a World of Books, where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It’s a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list. So hop on over to Journey and join in...and leave a comment here so I can check out what you are reading.

I skipped the last two weeks because I didn't get much reading done, and I wasn't actually reading anything either, but I managed to get a few books done over the last few weeks, so I thought I'd post a compilation of the last three.

Books I Read Over the Last Three Weeks:
This is the one book I managed to read like 2 weeks ago, and I really enjoyed it! It's a fantastic story, and really well written. Plus, it has a deeper message, which is always fantastic in YA. :)

I managed to devour this trilogy over the last few weeks. I really liked the first one, it wasn't my favourite out of the three books, but I did really enjoy it. I can kind of tell that it started out as Twilight fanfiction...but that's probably because this is the type of Twilight fanfic I like. The alternate universe, all human variety. This one was a great start to the trilogy. :)

This one was even better than the first one! :D I absolutely loved it. I liked seeing the characters evolve, they definitely changed a lot throughout the series, and I think this is the one where you see that the most. :)

Loved this one, too! :D I was really happy with this series, and so happy with how it all turned out...just fantastic! :D

This book was alright, but it wasn't as descriptive as I'd hoped. The stories were a little too brief for me, and while I enjoyed the form Ron Koertge chose, I wish that the stories were a bit longer. I felt like I'd just get into the story and then it would be over. It does have some beautiful paper cut illustrations. :)

I've really enjoyed some of the books in my travel writing class...this unfortunately was not one of them. I just didn't like the historical sections in it, they were too long, and I didn't like how he combined them with the narrative. They just felt too separate for me, and I just felt myself constantly getting bored...and I kept skipping to the narrative sections.

I absolutely loved this one. It was such a deep topic, and so beautifully written. It was definitely a great choice for my first Ellen Hopkins YA book, thanks for the recommendation, Zoë. :D

I've been wanting to read this one for so long! I finally borrowed it from the library, and I absolutely loved it. Shana did a great job turning The Iliad into a YA novel...fantastic! :D Loved having it from Cassie's POV, too! :D

Reading Now:

I've only ever read Christopher Moore's A Love Story trilogy, and I really enjoyed it, so I was looking forward to this one, and so far I'm really liking it! :)

It took me a couple of chapters to get into this one, but I'm totally hooked now and I'm loving it! Zoë and I are reading this one together! Now I'm just waiting for her to catch up so I can keep going! :P haha

Books I Want to Read This Week:
This one's about Jack the Ripper, I'm definitely intrigued by it! Can't wait to read it! :D

And what are you reading???

Check out One Person's Journey Through a World of Books to see what other people are reading. :)

 Skylark by Meagan Spooner (Netgalley)
Amped: A Novel by Daniel H. Wilson (Netgalley)
Tomorrow Land by Mari Mancusi (Netgalley)

Bought:

Immortal City (Immortal City #1) by Scott Speer (The Book Depository)

I'm really excited for this one! It sounds amazing, and I just have to say that the cover on this one is gorgeous...and not just because of the cover model. ;) I love how the font matches the Hollywood sign.

I got a few amazing books this week, and hopefully you did, too! :D So, what did you get in your mailbox this week? Feel free to tell me what you got, or leave a link to your IMM post in the comments, and I'll come check it out. :)
