Release Date: Already Released.
Number of Pages: 374 (Paperback)

Description from Goodreads:
When having two powers makes you a Super and having none makes you a Normal, having only one makes you a sad half-superpowered freak.

It makes you a One.

Sixteen-year-old Merrin Grey would love to be able to fly – too bad all she can do is hover.

If she could just land an internship at the Biotech Hub, she might finally figure out how to fix herself. She busts her butt in AP Chem and salivates over the Hub’s research on the manifestation of superpowers, all in hopes of boosting her chances.

Then she meets Elias VanDyne, another One, and all her carefully crafted plans fly out the window. Literally. When the two of them touch, their Ones combine to make them fly, and when they’re not soaring over the Nebraska cornfields, they’re busy falling for each other.

Merrin's mad chemistry skills land her a spot on the Hub's internship short list, but as she gets closer to the life she always wanted, she discovers that the Hub’s purpose is more sinister than it has always seemed. Now it’s up to her to decide if it's more important to fly solo, or to save everything - and everyone - she loves.

Ever since I laid eyes on One's beautiful cover months ago...I knew that I had to read it, and once I read the blurb, I was completely sold! And it completely delivered and even surpassed all of my expectations! :D I absolutely loved every single moment that I was reading One, and I definitely plan to read it again in the future!

Leigh Ann Kopans has created a world that is not only imaginative, but is also reflective of world history as we know it. She has also created some of the most appealing and well-developed characters that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting through the written word. I absolutely loved Merrin, and I loved getting to know her...to learn her insecurities, and see Elias help her finally repair the rifts that her past had created. I also loved all of the moments where Elias and Merr were together...they were perfect together, and they totally gave me happy butterflies in my own tummy!

Along with amazing characters, and fantastic world-building, Kopans has crafted a story that will leave you desperate for more...and it will constantly have you turning the page as fast as you can possibly read. I loved the action, the suspense, and the mystery element that surrounded Merr's own search for a way to fix Ones. I'm a fan of trying to anticipate what's going to happen in a book, and Kopans kept me constantly guessing! I was riveted to the story, and surprised almost every time that Merrin was!

Overall, One was an amazing story! It was unique, impossibly to put down, and has a cast of characters that you will thoroughly enjoy getting to know! I'd recommend One to those who like books with intricate world-building that fits within the future of our own world. I think you'll also love this one if you enjoy romances where the girl's a little hesitant, but once she lets the boy in...the romance is pretty much magical. ;) This book is definitely "one" (hehe) of my favourite reads so far in 2013, and I wholeheartedly recommend it! :D

What do you think?
Does One sound like your type of book?
