INTERVIEW DAY! :D
Hey everybody! :D
Today's the first day of Armchair BEA.
I'd love to be going to the actual BEA, but I'm not there, so instead I'm going to be doing this one from the comfort of my couch. :P haha So, as the first day of Armchair BEA, it's the day of the interview, too. We're each supposed to pick 5 out of the 10 questions provided and answer them. :) Then we can all comment on each others and get to know more about other Armchair BEA participants. :)
Without further ado, here are the five questions I've chosen to answer:
- Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
Well, I'm sure you all know my name at least, but I'm still going to say it: I'm Ambur. :) I'm a 21-year-old University student. I'm an English major with a Linguistics minor. I have about a year and a half left on my and I'm hoping to get into publishing one day. I love books, so I'd love to be able to spend my life having a career where I get to share my love of books with others. Sharing my love for books is the main reason I blog, so I'd love to be able to help others find passion in books for a living someday. :) - What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?
Right now, I'm reading a bunch of books. I was in a bit of a slump for a while, so I've got a few books I've started and paused at for a while. So, I'm currently reading A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin (Almost done this one! :D), Glitch by Heather Anastasiu, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder by Joanne Fluke. And my favourite book for 2012 so far has been Insurgent by Veronica Roth. Loved it so much! :D I also really enjoyed City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare, Black Heart by Holly Black, and The Calling by Kelley Armstrong! :D - Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.
Hmmm. Just one thing? :P Well you already know I like fanfiction, music, that I love dogs, and the colour orange, so I'm gonna have to tell you something really random. I love Sour Cherry Blasters. They are my absolute favourite candy, and if my tongue didn't get super raw I could just keep eating and eating them forever! haha I also love pickles. :) - What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?
Literary location?? Well if that means a location that's literary, like a library or book-related place, then I'd say BEA itself. I really hope to get the opportunity to go one year. It would be so amazing to get to meet so many other bloggers, and then of course there are all the amazing publishers, authors, and other people from the book industry that I'd love to meet. However, if this means like a location in a book, I'd have to say Hogwarts because well...come on, who doesn't want to go to Hogwarts?! haha :D But if the Hogwarts train were full I'd want to go to Idris from Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series. It sounds like such an amazing and beautiful place...plus I know Jace is taken, but maybe there would be a hot Shadowhunter guy for me there. ;) - Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?
I don't know. I don't think it really has. I still love YA, but I am more willing to try other genres, at least once. I'm also a lot more careful with which books I choose to read just because I have to so many to read now, or I guess, I have more awareness that there is so much for me to read. :P Before I started blogging and looking into upcoming releases and everything I was so unaware of what was out there! I pretty much just found books by going to book stores or by checking what was new at Wal-mart. So, now I guess my reading tastes have become more specific and they're pretty voracious...I have so much I want to read, even if I know I can't possibly get to everything. :P haha
So, that's a little bit about me.
Are you taking part in Armchair BEA, too?
Or are you actually at BEA in New York??
Either way, I'd love to hear from you. :)

Hi! I want to read all three books you are currently reading . Hogwarts is popular today, I think Idris would be beautiful as well.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get the chance to soon then, Kristina! :D It sure is. I think so too, it sounds like such a beautiful place in the books. Thanks for commenting. :)
DeleteI read Glitch - it's fast paced and exciting, good "get out of a slump" book :-) And I loved Insurgent too!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, Hogwarts all the way.
Pleased to meet you!
My Armchair BEA Intro Post.
Glad to hear that! I think I'm going to have to give it my full attention then! :D It was so amazing, wasn't it?! :D

Hogwarts seems to be a popular place ppl want to visit!
ReplyDeleteI also have a favorite candy that I eat EVERYDAY! I even ordered them in bulk from Amazon.com. They're Robin Eggs (whoppers Easter version) in the mini size. I probably eat a whole bag in a week.
Here's my Armchair BEA post for today!
I'm not too surprised. :D
Deletehaha nice! I've never had those! I'm gonna have to try them! :D I'm also glad to hear I'm not the only one who is a candy junkie! haha
I need to get caught up on the Kelly Armstrong books. Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI need to get caught up on her adult series, too! Thanks, and the same to you. I hope you get caught up on Kelley's books, too. :)
DeleteThanks for commenting. :)
Great book choices! I haven't read Black Heart yet, but I'm really looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D Oh, it was amazing! Probably one of my favourite conclusions to a trilogy ever! :D I hope you get the chance to read it soon and that you love it, too! :D
DeleteHogwarts if perfect!! It's weird but I didn't even think of it! I guess I was in a romantic mood!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is so much fun I'm so glad I found it. Looking forward to seeing you around ArmchairBEA!!
I didn't even think of Pemberley, so it's okay that you didn't think of Hogwarts. ;D haha Must've been, and I think that's pretty awesome. :)
DeleteThank you, Laura! :D That's such a sweet thing to say! And I'm looking forward to seeing you around, too! :D
Sharing my love of books is the main reason I blog too. Good to meet you. :D
ReplyDeleteIt's a good reason, isn't it? :) Thank you, it's good to meet you, too! :D
DeleteI want to got to Hogwarts too. I hope to someday go to the one they built in Disney. That's awesome that you want to go into publishing. It would be awesome to work with books all the time. Also, I love your background. Stars are my favorite shape!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. It was nice to meet you too! I agree that RPat probably doesn't have a twitter. He's too busy being pretty. lol. I just went to follow you on twitter and realized I'm already following you lol. I'll add you on goodreads now then.
-Melissa
I want to go there someday, too! :D It's so amazing that they've made it into a park like that...just so neat! :D I think so, too. Hopefully I'll manage it! :D Thank you, they're my favourite shape, too! :D
DeleteYou're welcome. :) Awe, yay! :D Haha definitely! I just added you, so I'll have to talk to you on Twitter and Goodreads now. :)
Thanks for stopping by, Melissa! :D
Game of Thrones!!! I wanna read that too eeek I recently got a copy but I'm so afraid to read it for some reason. Idris is a lovely place to go too, I love to see the glass towers and Alicante <3 nice choice, my inner shadowhunter is enjoying your post :)
ReplyDeleteMy Introduction post here
-Jay
We Fancy Books
That's how I felt, too! :D His writing is definitely dense and he has a lot of different points of view, but I really like getting a more in depth view of what happened on the show. It's neat reading thoughts and stuff like that that gets left out of the show. :) I know, it'd be so beautiful! haha Thanks! :D
DeleteI'll have to check it out. Thanks for commenting, Jay. :)
I love your blog design, it's so colorful and cheerful! And it's cool that you'll get to work with books, that would be a dream job!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jae! :D That's what I was going for when I designed it. :) That's what I'm hoping for, and it definitely would be a dream job! :D
DeleteHi love the post!! and the design!! Happy BEA Week!

Thank you! :D That was my intention, so I'm glad it comes off that way. :D
DeleteThank you, and it's great to meet you, too! I hope you do, too! I'm gonna have to check it out. Thanks for commenting. :)
I'd like to visit Hogwarts too! You were one of my first followers when I started in 2010. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog today. I use to breed Siberian cats as a hobby, it wasn't a career. I'm still in education. :)Good luck at university!
It would be so awesome! :D haha I remember that! It seems like so long ago! :D
DeleteYou're welcome, and thanks for returning the favour! :D Still pretty cool. Oh, interesting! :D Thank you, Julie! :D
Hi There!
ReplyDeleteI hope the Game of Thrones read encourages you to read the rest of the series: I am trying to get them all read by the end of the year!
It seems like Hogwarts is going to be very, very busy! :D
Hi back! :D
DeleteI hope so, too, and I think it will. :) I'm looking forward to getting to the books that aren't on the show's episodes yet. That way it'll all be new. :)
haha I bet it will. :)
Ooh I didn't know you took linguistics, Ambur. I am FASCINATED by language, especially here in Canada where our spelling and words are such a combination of American, British, and then our own Canadian-isms. I feel like if I went back to school linguistics is one of two areas I would want to focus on (the other being publishing).
ReplyDeleteAlso, sour cherry blasters are freaking amazing. Good choice. =b
Yup, I just declared my minor this year. :) I really like it. It's definitely interesting. Ya, we looked at Canadian raising mostly when it comes to Canadian specific stuff. :) We definitely have similar interests then. :)
DeleteThey so are! :D I love them so much! Thanks! Glad you like them, too! :D
Great taste in books. I love Cheery Sours. Wonder if I would love Sour Cherry Blasters?
ReplyDeleteThank you! :) I think you would. I've never had Cheery Sours, but I googled them, and they sound like they'd be kind of similar to Sour Cherry Blasters. Except Sour Cherry Blasters are coated in sugar instead of hard shell. They're delicious! :D
DeleteNice meeting you Ambur! Oh how I wish that I could go to BEA itself too, but hopefully next time! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you, nice to meet you too. :) Hopefully we'll both get to go there sometime soon! :D
DeleteThe more I blog the more I realize how many books I want to read and how I'm, uh, probably not going to live nearly long enough, so I hear you about being more specific. I only very rarely pick up a book that I haven't hear *somebody* rave about now, but there are so many people raving about great books that I fear my problem is getting worse... ;-)
ReplyDeleteI know! The list of books to read just seems to get bigger and bigger! haha Yeah, I'm the same. So true...it seems like there's always someone raving about a new book. :) lol
DeleteNice to meet you, Ambur!
ReplyDeleteHogwarts...YES! Definitely!
You would be more than welcome to join me at my imaginary dinner with my crew. The more the merrier!
Thank you. :) Nice to meet you too! :D
Deletehaha for sure! :D
Thanks! I'm happy to be welcomed! It is going to be the party to be at. ;)
I've heard so many good things about Cassandra Clare - people really seem to love her series. I am a big fan of fantasy, so I think I should give her a try :-)
ReplyDeleteHer writing is amazing. :D I love it! Hopefully you'll get the chance to read some of her books soon, and you'll love them, too! :D
DeleteIt has been so long since I've read A Game of Thrones that I have forgotten so much of what happened. With as long as he takes to write the books though I might just wait until he finishes the series and then read it straight through.
ReplyDeleteI love the brightness and cheerfulness of your blog design!
So true! He seems to take an awful long time to write his books. I'm kind of glad I've waited until now. :)
DeleteThanks, Angela! :D
I loved City of Lost Souls <3 <3 <3 And I am really looking forward to read Insurgent! Can't wait for my exams to pass! Awesome introduction post!! Enjoy aBEA! :) ;)
ReplyDeleteI loved it, too! :D So amazing! :D Oh, Insurgent was amazing, too. I hope you love it, too! :D Thanks! I hope you enjoy it, too! :D
DeleteYay for 21 year-old university students! I'm one too! It's nice to meet you Ambur!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I totally need to read the Song of Fire and Ice series. I own the first two books...I just haven't gotten around to them yet!
Woo hoo! Virtual high-fives all around for 21 year-old university students! :D Nice to meet you too, Natalie! :D
DeleteI'm hoping to get through the whole series, but I'm sure it'll take me a while. :P My brother bought the series, so I'm borrowing his. :P lol
Thanks for stopping by my blog for BEA Armchair :) Im such a big game of thrones fan and now the tv show has me even more addicted! Im really going to have to try a book by Joanne Fluke I always hear good things about them.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you and Ive been following you a while and look forward to more of your post!
You're welcome, and thank you for returning the visit. :D The show is amazing! :D I'm glad to hear that you love the books so much, too! :D She writes great stories. I find them really fast paced, too. :)
DeleteThank you. Nice to meet you, too! :D
I hope you're enjoying A Game of Thrones! It's one of my favorites, but then I was surprised that book three might actually be better. I didn't think it was possible!
ReplyDeleteI am! :D I really like it so far. :) Oooh, glad to hear that! :D Thanks for your comment, Jen! :D
DeleteA linguistic minor ...very cool. Linguistics is my daughter's plan for a major or minor. How do you plan to use this minor?
ReplyDeleteA Game of Thrones is one my favorite books. I hope you are liking it.
Well, I'm planning on trying to get an Internship or taking addition courses on publishing after I get my BA, so my focus will be more on Publishing itself rather than on my Linguistics minor. I plan on using it just to kind of take in a different side of language. I find Linguistics very fascinating. :)
DeleteThanks, I am! :D
Literary Location - being at BEA, perfect answer :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad to have met you Ambur
haha thanks! :D
DeleteGlad to have met you too, Marce! :)
I'm glad to see you've gotten out of your reading slump. And Insurgent was totally amazing, wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd totally love to go to Idris and meet a few Shadow Hunters1 That is a great literary location pick.
I have not had a Sour Cherry Blaster but I'm totally going to look those up. I love super tart, shred your tongue kind of candy. :)
I hope you're enjoying the Armchair this year and I hope you get a chance to head to BEA in NYC next year! Happy reading!
Thanks! I am, too! :D Yes, it was so amazing! :D
DeleteThanks!
I think you'll like them then. :)
Thanks! I hope so too, and hopefully you'll get to go too. :) Happy reading to you, too! :D
Oh, wow. Now I'm really in the mood for pickles.
ReplyDeleteI just finished Insurgent and really enjoyed it as well. I'm telling all of my friends that they have to read this series but most of them probably won't listen unless a movie comes out based on it. *sigh*
It's always a good time to be in the mood for pickles. :) They're fantastic!
DeleteAwe, well I hope they listen to you because they're missing out on a seriously amazing series...but at least you're trying to get them to read it nonetheless. :)
Hi Ambur :)
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to read Game of Thrones for months. And I keep putting it off, and putting it off...aaaaaand putting it off some more lol. How are you liking it?
:)
Hi Alex :)
DeleteI'm really enjoying it! It's great. I think I'll like it even better once I'm reading the books that aren't made into the episodes yet though because then everything will be a surprise still. haha But, it's good. :)
:)
Great list of books! I loved Black Heart and The Hannah Swensen books are really funny :)
ReplyDeleteLol, I'd love to "visit" BEA, too :D
Thanks! :D Glad you loved Black Heart, too! It was amazing! :D They so are. I love Joanne Fluke's sense of humour. :)
DeleteHopefully we'll both get to go someday then. :D
I read a lot of Twilight fanfic and some VA, what are your faves?
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Day 2 post if you haven’t already
I read a lot of Twilight ones too. Mostly AH and AU. I love those ones. :D And I read lots for The Mortal Instruments and Harry Potter --Dramione ones to be specific. I actually have a list of the ones I love on the 'Fanfic Favourites' page on my blog. :)
DeleteBEA would be my destination of choice as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Book'd Out earlier
Happy Armchair BEA!
Shelleyrae @ Book'd Out
You're welcome, Shelleyrae! And thank you for returning the favour. :) Happy BEA to you, too! :D
DeleteI loved Game of Thrones! I just finished A Storm of Swords(the 3rd book in the series) and upset that I have to put the series down for a bit to get some requested reviews done. I hope you are enjoying it!
ReplyDeletePickles and Sour Cherry Blasters eh? I love both of those two, but not together... just in case anyone was wondering. :) LOL
ReplyDelete
