Cover Reveal: THE FORTUNATE ONES by R.S. Grey

I'm excited to reveal the gorgeous cover of R.S. Grey's next release, THE FORTUNATE ONES! This romantic comedy releases November 1st. See the cover and find out more about THE FORTUNATE ONES below!

Title: THE FORTUNATE ONES
Author: R.S. Grey
Pub Date: November 1, 2017

DESCRIPTION:

At Twin Oaks Country Club, there are the fortunate ones, and then there are the rest of us: the waiters, the caddies, the valets, and in my case, the cabana girls. Most days, I’m poolside in a pleated skirt, dishing out margaritas to tycoons and titans. It’s not exactly my dream job, but it does come with one perk…
James Ashwood.
He’s my silver lining in a custom black suit.
Besides being a legacy member at the club, he’s a tech mogul and Austin’s most eligible bachelor. Oh, and those dimples? Yeah, they make my stomach dip too.
On good days, I catch his sleek Porsche winding down the tree-lined drive. On better days, I steal a glimpse of his handsome profile as we pass in the hall. And on the absolute best day, I find him alone at the bar, looking for company.
“Come have a seat.”
Those four little words set me down a path I never could have imagined. Private planes, penthouse suites, and temptations around every corner make it impossible to keep my distance. His world feels decadent and wild—but overindulgence comes with a cost. Every kiss comes with strings. Every erotic encounter is a promise I’m not ready to keep.
When I pump the brakes, he hits the gas. James doesn’t want to go slow—he wants a commitment.
And the thing about the fortunate ones?
They’re used to getting what they want.

Cover Reveal: MY WEEK WITH THE BAD BOY by Brooke Cumberland and Lyra Parish

In case you didn't get in on the Kennedy Fox craze and weren't following along in their big reveal...the secret writing duo formerly known as Kennedy Fox (authors of the Checkmate series) made a big reveal not too long ago about their identities.

We now know that Kennedy Fox is the collective pen name for Brooke Cumberland and Lyra Parish!

And now that we all know their secret identities, they've decided to write a book together under their real names, and that book is MY WEEK WITH THE BAD BOY!

Today I have the pleasure of sharing the absolutely scrumptious cover with you all, so scroll down a smidge and get yourself an eye-full, and if you keep scrolling you'll also find some teasers, an excerpt, and a giveaway! ;)

Title: My Week with the Bad Boy
Authors: Brooke Cumberland & Lyra Parish
Genre: Contemporary Romance / Standalone
Cover Design: RBA Designs
Photographer: FuriousFotog
Model: Joey Berry

DESCRIPTION:

Never trust a man who answers the front door wearing nothing more than a pair of low-cut jeans and a panty-melting smirk.

That should’ve been my first sign. I write about guys just like him for a living—sexy and charming, yet reluctant to get into a serious relationship. His body screams sex appeal, but his condescending personality makes him a classic fuckboy.  And I want nothing to do with that. Writing romance novels comes with its perks—traveling, meeting new people, creating characters from the voices in my head—but Ethan Rochester enters my life and rearranges all my preconceived notions about writing what inspires you.  One week is all it took. One week to realize that not everything is as it seems. One week with the bad boy, and I wanted more.

EXCERPT:

*excerpt is unedited and subject to change.*
I’m pretty sure I need CPR or some kind of life-saving equipment.

I can’t seem to catch my breath, even though I’m breathing just fine, but the way he just kissed me and then walked away has my mind reeling and my body confused as hell.

His lips were so warm and inviting, I couldn’t pull away. I didn’t want to pull away and that’s even more confusing to me than I like admitting. However, I can’t deny the way his kiss affected me. The way his body pressed against me. The way my body responded to him like I was some desperate sex-deprived woman.

I’m not by the way. Stupid traitorous body.

I’m still trying to catch my breath when I leave and walk out the back door. Quickly glancing around to make sure Henry isn’t following me again, I walk down the garden path and head back inside the cottage.

I don’t have time to think about Ethan and that kiss, I remind myself.

I don’t have time to analyze the way that kiss made me feel, I also remind myself.

But fuck. It was a really good kiss.

But why did he kiss me? And why did I kiss him back?

Ugh! How dare he kiss me like that!

My mind is all over the place, I can’t keep up with my own thoughts. His proposal repeats in my head. I’m talking myself out of his offer then I’m talking myself into considering it. Would it really be so bad to have one night of fun while I’m here?

What am I even saying?

I palm my forehead, trying to smack the oxygen back into my brain.

This man is making me second-guess everything and is driving me absolutely crazy! I write about heroines who have one-night stands or who fuck a guy after just meeting them, but that isn’t real life. At least not for me. I’ve seen first hand what jumping into a relationship based off sex can do to a couple and it isn’t pretty.

Deciding to march back over there, I don’t bother knocking before letting myself back in. I stomp my way upstairs even though I have no idea where he went, I’m not thinking straight anymore. My heart is racing but I’m determined to give him a piece of my mind.

REVIEW

It's hard to believe that before 2017, I hadn't ever read a book by Leigh "L.J." Shen. Her first full-length Sinners of Saint book, VICIOUS, was one of the first books I read this year, and it's stuck with me ever since. I would still put it as my #1 book for the year, it was that amazing for me...and since then, I've devoured all of her new books! She's quickly become one of my favourite authors, and her particular flavour of dark romance is exactly my type of romantic poison! ;)

Now that you have a better idea of how much I adore Leigh's work...and if you saw any of my blog posts leading up to SCANDALOUS's release, I'm sure you can guess how excited I was for this book. I've been wanting SCANDALOUS since the moment I finished VICIOUS

I've been ridiculously curious about Trent because we didn't get to see much of him in Vic's book, and while I was definitely still excited about Dean and Jamie's stories, I was even more eager for Trent's. All of that anticipation just continued to build, and so I felt like I'd been curious about Trent for what feels like ages!

And you know what?

SCANDALOUS absolutely wowed me! It was exactly what I'd hoped it would be and I thought it was PERFECT! It was raw, harsh, and breathtakingly beautiful. It had that dirty, dark vibe that permeates VICIOUS, but was also still completely its own story. I absolutely adored Trent...I was pretty sure I would, but I actually loved him even more than I expected too...he still hasn't topped Vicious for me, but he's second out of the Hot Holes. ;) I loved seeing him with Luna. I'm really enjoying seeing the Hot Holes grow up, and daddy Trent is absolutely fantastic. I really loved Edie as a character, too. She was strong, caring, and vulnerable in ways that I really didn't expect, but loved getting to see...and put her with Trent and wowza!

That brings me to the romance....oh did I ever did I love the romance in SCANDALOUS! Edie and Trent were absolutely amazing together! I loved seeing them open up to each other, and it was so wonderful to see how their feelings developed! SCANDALOUS does happen to have some taboo aspects as Trent happens to be business partners with Edie's father and they have a 15-year age gap between them, but Edie and Trent actually complemented each other so well! Their chemistry was sizzling, but their interactions were also deep, and so beautiful and emotional! This book seriously gave me ALL THE FEELS!

I've been a super fangirl of L.J. Shen ever since VICIOUS, and my love for her books and magical way with words just continues to grow! She has a way of twisting my emotional in a cathartic, gut-wrenching, but wonderful way and I always LIVE for her books! SCANDALOUS is phenomenal and if you like taboo romances that will have your heart spinning in circles and your emotions in knots, then I think you'll love it just as much as I did! If darker romances with plenty of steam are your jam you seriously need to pick up one of L.J. Shen's books! Seriously...do it now! I'd start with VICIOUS or SCANDALOUS personally...you can't go wrong with Vicious or Trent. Prepare to be confused by how much you love her not-so-nice leading men though. They're definitely not "good" guys, but boy do they ever make you and their ladies feel good. ;)

About L.J. Shen

L.J. Shen is an International #1 best-selling author of Contemporary Romance and New Adult novels. She lives in Northern California with her husband, young son and chubby cat.

Before she’d settled down, L.J. (who thinks referring to herself in the third person is really silly, by the way) traveled the world, and collected friends from all across the globe. Friends who’d be happy to report that she is a rubbish companion, always forgets peoples’ birthdays and never sends Christmas cards.

She enjoys the simple things in life, like spending time with her family and friends, reading, HBO, Netflix and internet-stalking Stephen James. She reads between three to five books a week and firmly believes Crocs shoes and mullets should be outlawed.

Planning to read SCANDALOUS yet?

I've managed to convince several friends to start L.J. Shen's Sinners of Saint series...so I hope I've continued to convince more readers! I read a lot of romance, and this series happens to be one of my absolute top favourites...ever!

REVIEW:

I started reading WITHOUT MERIT the day that I received the ARC in the mail!
When I opened the package, I proceeded to squee and hug the book to my chest. Not long after that I started reading and I couldn't put it down!!! I kept reading and I didn't stop until I'd finished!!!

Merit is definitely not a traditional main character. She's brash, abrasive, and extremely impulsive, but I really enjoyed her narrative and I loved her sardonic sense of humour. She was raw, and real and flawed...and I loved seeing her overcome all of the obstacles she faced in the book. And Sagan...oh boy. I loved Sagan!!!! He had some lines that were just soooo swoony!! I also really enjoyed getting to know Merit's family. She lives in a pretty unconventional household, and their family dynamics were really intriguing!

The story itself was wonderful!!! It was all about family dynamics, love, and perspective! When I finished reading that was my biggest thought, that the book was all about perspective and I absolutely loved that. So often we live our lives wrapped up in our own little bubbles, only ever thinking of and considering things from our own viewpoints, and WITHOUT MERIT kind of shows you that sometimes our perspectives can be extremely biased and completely wrong. The truths that we think we see aren't the full story and coming to terms with the reality of certain situations can be revolutionary, so I really loved what Colleen was doing with this story! It didn't wreak my heart like some of her previous books, but it completely enthralled me and it captivated my attention wholly and left me wondering and considering the world we live in, my place in it, and how my perspective could be shifted to keep myself from getting too wrapped up in my own little world!

Finally, and this is totally separate from the characters and the story as a whole, I also loved that Colleen dedicated WITHOUT MERIT to one of her sons! It's one of the sweetest, and best dedications I've ever read. It's also pretty clear that Merit's hometown is based on the town that Colleen lives in and there was a little bookstore that Cohorts will likely recognize...it was probably the most adorable cameo I've ever seen and it was in a book! ;)

I adored WITHOUT MERIT! Colleen Hoover is definitely moving away from romance-centric stories towards ones that are more on the literary fiction side, and while I love my swoony, sexy or sweet romances, I really love that she's creating stories with so much depth! Merit and her family deal with quite a few big issues in this book that they end up confronting head on and I really, really appreciate that Colleen is willing to bring sensitive topics up for discussion like she has here! Cohorts will definitely love this one, and I hope that newbies to Colleen Hoover who are looking for a story full of heart will pick it up and love WITHOUT MERIT, too!
